Member needs some help

We all know Ed Cozzi. Many of us have had him survey boats for us. There's nobody better nor is there a nicer guy out there.

He needs some help- Miami area.

I'm heading to FLA Thurs for golf trip a few hours north of Miami with some of my "Jersey" friends - maybe we can find the time to drop by and take in the sights. If not, I bet there is a very good chance their friends in the area might be able to say hello...

keep you posted...

JB4Boyne 02-26-2008 08:07 AM

You should have posted this while we were all in Miami for the boat show...we could have had the OSO party at his house:angry-smiley-038:

So he's out $900.........doesn't he make that in one day on a survey. It will cost him more to go chase the money than it will to just forget about it and get back to work. I know that sucks, but thats cost benefit.

Wow! I wish I was working for you. No, the survey business is not quite THAT lucrative. Prior to last week I hadn't had a survey to do in two weeks! I've been a full-time surveyor for ten years and never went two weeks without a survey.

This money owed has become personal. This guy was considered more than just a customer and I really put myself out for him many times.

I agree. Sometimes it's not about the money..

Wobble 02-26-2008 10:16 AM

Cant you put a mechanics lien or other type of lien on the boat, small claims court maybe.

Having a bad day? You typically don't hit so hard.

Ed is one hell of a guy and has tons of friends on the board. If you aren't interested in lending a hand to the guy or even showing a bit of support, simply passing by the post would have sufficed.

And more towards your point, Ed charges less than just about anybody yet does twice the survey and has ten times the knowledge. He posted that things have been a bit tight lately and the hit hurts a bit.

OH man give him a break, its not always about the money. I have never met Ed but from what I have read about him on here he is one of the more stand up guys and always willing to help. I would help all I could if I were in a position to.

Sorry :(, I did not mean for that to come out that way. I am sincerely trying to help the guy out. Sometimes you need to look at the big picture. If you waist 5 days trying to get your money when you could be working, then you've just lost more money and increased the cost. This is what we do in my business. If someone doesn't want to pay their bill, then we will not chase them down. I'm not good at chasing people down, I'm good at what I do. Personal.........they will get whats coming to them. I will not lose any sleep over it. After you factor in time lost, wages lost, attorney cost, personal stress - it will end up costing you 3 times as much to get the money......if your successful. They will want substantiation of all expenses and maybe even try to come after you professionally. I recommend cutting your loses short.

Ed - I apoligize if this offends you.

Chris Sunkin 02-26-2008 01:08 PM

I know what you mean. Chasing a few bucks can cost you a pile of them. I've done it.

I wish my travels put me in S. Florida in the next couple of weeks. This would be a non-issue. If some OSO members are able to put some pressure on this clown to do the right thing, he may just see the light and give Ed what's his.

Perlmudder 02-26-2008 01:18 PM

i could not imagine owing someone almost a g, and then trying to sneak out of not paying it. guess people dont have morals anymore.

gl on getting your money ed.

Perlmudder 02-26-2008 01:20 PM

and when i say "people" i mean dirt bags like that guy.

JB4Boyne 02-26-2008 01:20 PM

If Ed lets him get away without paying, that would be teaching him the wrong leason and next time it might be you or I getting screwed.
I still say:angry-smiley-038:

sy goldberg 02-26-2008 03:11 PM

Losers !

I would still go to small claims court and get a judgement against him which will foul him up on any of his future dealings that would require a credit report.

bootdaddy 02-26-2008 03:37 PM

some things are best handled the old fahioned way...let me see how my golf weekend in FLA plays out...we may be up for the entertainment even with the 2 hour drive

my friends and their friends can be very convincing and have been doing this for a very long time (this is no bs, but may cost me a favor!)

another thought that just came to me os to reach out to some local friends in the parkng business...anybody know what kind of car he drives? Just tow and stash and leave him a note...:D

Dean Ferry 02-26-2008 04:12 PM

What a dirt bag, sorry to hear about your issue Ed, hopefully, the power OSO will help..

Chris,
Great talking with you today, thanks for the advice.
Dean

Like my Grandfather use to tell me The good ones pay for the bad ones,Being in the retail credit Furniture biz.I probably spend to much time dwelling on the bad ones and I should be selling the good one:D

Best of luck Ed

I like to see OSO going after guys like this. I promise you, I would be one of the first ones to knock on the guys door if he was in my neck of the woods. I ain't as good as I once was...but I can still hold my own. ;)

I do need a vacation to a sunny spot though. Ed, I might trade a little persuading for a boat ride in the warm weather.

BEANISH IS GETTING THR BALL BATS VARNISHED.....WHAT TIME WILL YOU BE READY??????????????

Wobble 02-27-2008 09:12 AM

I still am thinking a lien on the boat or go after the first partner for the rest of the money. I don't see how their relationship issues should become yours.

DaveP 02-27-2008 09:13 AM

I just called the dirt bag who owes the money. He was not a happy camper!

I just gave his number out to 10 people :D

He's been screening his calls from my cell phone, my home, my office and my brother's cell phone.

He had me jumping through hoops to fax him about the third copy of my invoice, so I have a fax number for him. I hope it's at his work. (954) 475-6640.

Ed - any idea what the name of the company is that he works for and where they are located?

His cell phone is registered to a "Neil Schwabe".

Maybe a little pressure to his former partner might help.

www.gethealthinsurance.com He's the CEO and can't come up with a lousy $900.00. Great company.

320es 02-27-2008 06:01 PM

I made a call, but no answer. If nothing else I can just irritate the hell out of him from a distance.:angry-smiley-038:

DaveP 02-27-2008 06:02 PM

keep calling everyone! He loves it!

He is getting a FAX BOMB from me tonight :hitfan:

Ed, just called this POS. Told him that right now, I was, let's just say, his best friend, cause I'm gonna give him some very important advice. Told him that in the next few days, I'm expecting my friend Eddie, to call me back and tell me that he got paid all the monies that's owed to him.
If I don't get that phone call, then when us Chi-Town guys come down there in a couple weeks for our boating vacation, he's gonna get a full dose of how we collect money in Chicago. He started to get real defensive, then snotty, and I told him again that right now, he oughta consider me his best friend, cause he's not gonna want to see the other side of me.

Then he threatened to beat my azz if I come down there, and hung up. Guess now that I've been threatened by him, makes me want to come down just to meet him face to face, and have him tell me that to my face in person.
Ed, see my previous response on your other post.

Frank

BTW ED,where does he keep the boat At ??

Chris Sunkin 02-27-2008 08:36 PM

It's a shame he's not on the OSO board. I haven't been chastized by a member posting under a fake name for threatening someone in over a week.

This mouthy little pole smoker isn't grasping the size of $hit sandwich he'll be snacking on here shortly.

They sold the boat. It used to be behind Dan's house in Keystone Point.

Instead of leaving me smart-ass messages, this punk should be getting me a cashier's check!

C M R 02-27-2008 09:01 PM

It's been hit or miss for few days trying to catch up, and just ran across this thread.

All I have to say is what a Fin tool, to not man up and pay the 900bucks. What a shame.

Best of luck Ed with getting your money.

Quit picking on pole smokers and pickle smoochers!!! :D Damn, forgot to send this under a fake name... :cool-smiley-027:

I wish these young punks grew up back when I did where your word was your word, you didn't screw people, you paid what you owed, and if you pulled a stunt like this you knew you would take an azz-thumping and you knew you deserved it. Today's mindset seems to be more along the lines of screw everyone, let someone else deal with my problems and debt, and if you touch me I will sue your azz instead of taking it like a man.
