Wow, thats a shame. He was a performance boat icon around here for as long as I can remember. When I was younger the highlight of every trip to New Orleans was hoping to see one of his boats outside his toy shop next to I-10. RIP

Big Al
A very sad day indeed for all of us in the offshore family to lose an icon like Al. One of my favorite pictures on my wall is the one of Maria and I sitting on one of Al's Boss Hoss V8 motorcycles amidst a dozen other ones, his Ferrarri's and Lamborghini's alongside, in front of his yacht . I call that picture "the good life" and proudly tell all who ask that NONE of those toys are mine. They ALL belong to Big Al Copeland. The Key West World Championship parties he threw were legendary and will never be forgotten. Al, you will never be forgotten either, my friend....RIP Stan and Maria

Wow, what a loss. He was truly one of a kind. He single handedly started the Superboat Class and was a driving force in Offshore for many years.
I've always enjoyed meeting and interviewing Al whenever possible. He always had something interesting to say.
Rest in Peace Big Al - You'll always be remembered.
