Another big loss,
R.I.P AL

I never held a conversation with him but being from the New Orleans area I can remember going to the offshore races in Lake Pontchartrain in the early 80’s and seeing Al race the Popeye’s boat. In the 90’s I lived not far from him and remember the long lines of cars to see his Christmas lights and all his Toys on display. I went to a few Poker runs that he was on in the past few years. Lots of stories about his life were topic of conversation but you got to give it to him, He had a good time while he was here. The sobering thing is that no matter who you are or what you have when it’s your time, that’s it. His legend lives on. Keep up his Dreams Al Jr.

I met Al back in the early 80's when as a teenager I worked on one of his first flight marine cats. He was larger than life at the time but so gracious and accessible. No one can forget the awe inspiring displays of wealth and professionalism he brought to the sport. My condolences go out to Al Jr. and the rest of the family. He was a class act and great for the sport.

I had the greatest pleasure racing against Al back in 1988 .We had some great times racing the Popeyes race team for a few years .The best races to date were racing Al and Al jr. in key West @ the World championships .We were always the underdog !!
We will miss Al and all what he did for the Racing industry !
Our deepest thoughts go out to the family & many friends of Al Copeland.

A true Icon to the sport of offshore racing. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few times, in the last couple of years.
To his Family and Friends my sincere condolences.
To Al may you rest in peace.
