Either way, DON'T let them near your boat.

I would go get the boat and hand them a new jar of KY JELLY...telling them that they might need this on their next customer. I have a Baja and I can change my raw water impeller in less than 30 minutes.

Dallas- Do the right thing and take your boat out of there- they are obviously not a "reputable" shop and then let us all know who they are so noboby at OSO will get scammed by these idiots!

and make sure they haven't either taken other parts off your boat or sabotaged something to generate 'future revenues'.

Actually it depends. Mercury bases the warranty and time associated with jobs based on access to the engine. The engine should have minimum specs of spacing around it, and access to the water pump. IF the water pump, and/or front of the engine, and/or the entire engine are installed in basically a "cube" just bigger than the engine; well then yes the engine would need to be pulled to do a water pump.

So, biggest question is can one actually get to the water pump? Chances are very unlikely that the builder setup the engine compartment so poorly that you can't work on it. Hence, your service dealer is trying to take you for a ride.
