Default Boat Insurance??

What the hell do you guys do for insurance? I have a little boat and most performance insurance places won't even quote it. It has a custom motor that is way beyond what came from the factory and nobody will touch it. I know I am not the only one in this bind. Some companies won't even let me see the verbage before I plop down a non-refundable payment!!! ASK ME WHO!

I have Boat U.S. on the Baja, but I have been told it is because we have never had a claim, and we have perf boat expieriance. 1997 baja 272 50,000 agreed value. $800 a year.

1994 Sea Ray sea Raider jet boat $5,000 agreed value. $90 a year.

Brad,

I doubt anybody with blown/custom motors states it as being such. Seems kind of risky to me but there aren't many options out there. --- John

Just my 2 cents and take it as such,,, but unless you are prepared to have your ins. company wash there hands of you when it comes time to pay a claim, I would come pretty close to telling them what you have in the boat.

I second obnoxus' statement. Also, if your boat is powered over the capacity plate numbers I don't think anyone will touch it.

So far have three quotes. $2600, $2200 and $2150. I know there are plenty of small boats with blowers out there. Not all of them lie. I agree....no sense in paying for insurance that wouldn't pay a claim anyway due to mis-information.

Try PMA. I don't know how small your boat is but I'm sure they will give you a quote.
