we have this one at our beach club. works well and the ice is pretty good size wise. |
I have a old DD frig outside just for beer, the ice maker didn't work, I bought a new kit around 40.00 and fix it, On freezer side I took out everything except the ice maker and one shelf, I put a new kitchen garbage can to catch all the ice,I ran a water hose to it, they make a adapter that does this, its fills it about 4-5 days, not real fast but when I don't need it I bag it ,put it below on the bottom, its half moon stuff.
Also someone gave me a Scottsman style, makes the small square cubes, about 40lbs? it keeps up pretty good, I took the level sensor and bent it up so it hold a little more now. the sq ice melts faster that the half moon stuff. Also bought the kit sump pump/humidifier pump around 45.00,dump it into the washing machine drain . |

We have an undercounter Scotsman in our wetbar.
I've heard they are the best. But ours sucks. (keep in mind it's also 12 years old) Were remodeling the kitchen/wetbar and in the market for a new one and it seems like a crapshoot to me. All have to check out that hoshimoto unit. |
I just recommend that you stay away from the Whirlpool made units. Not looking to start any fights. I am just going off of what are service guys work on the most and from what my customers are replacing and why. Just my .02
