most of the gang I hang with always offers to kick in for fuel; I generally decline but am open to food and beverages which they bring in abundance. and as US1 said" friends don't friends quit boating" - Jeff

Yeah, for some reason I have a hard time accepting money too, but I never pay for lunch or beverages. When we go out and raft up with a bunch of other boats, people always ask for rides and they want to go for a speed run.....last year was no problem, this year I have to limit it because the gas is going to kill me this summer. Then I always have my friends saying that they will give me 20 bucks for the ride, but I feel weird accepting it.

When I went on a poker run with one of my buddies (on his boat), I made him take money from me...he seriously wouldn't accept it, but I wasn't taking no for an answer either. No one has ever done that to me...:rolleyes:

I'd take the fuel expense over our bar tabs ANY day

I dunno....I hardly used my boat this year compared to usual and still managed to spend $3K in fuel so far.... I made two long runs and the rest was cruising locally....:mad:

fuel is fast becoming one of the added "expenses" of boating... Unless you're really well off than it doesnt matter but most people can't afford to spend $1K a weekend on fuel where it used to be about half or a few hundy less. :(

I know times are not like they were, but I just jumped up to a 34' twin from a 23' single. As did my brother-in-law 31' SR1from 23 Rinker. My uncle jumped to a 330ss from a 28 Chris C. Another friend still has a 23 and can't hardly stand it. At work, I've got two buddies who don't have boats and are looking to buy this fall. One recently sold a 27' Formula - looking at Cigs.

However there is a 2 year old CrownLine down the street bought new, that has not seen the water this year. I don't think they are boaters.

I have been boating just as much as I ever have. Been on quite a few boat trips this year too and going on a few more.
