About the capacitor, they make a big difference to your amplifier. Most boaters use their sound system when idle or with engine off. The better your electrical the tighter the bass and the longer the amp lasts as dipping to low voltage blows amps.
As far as buying a used cap, that may not be a good idea. When buying a cap, the higher the voltage the better. Some are 16 volt caps with 20 volt peaks. The better are 20 volt with 24 volt peaks. Also bear in mind that a used cap can be internally dried out and useless.
