All the planning in the world won't make inadequate equipment hold together.
The issue with the straps was to keep the boat on the trailer after the hitch failure rather then the road. For all we know, that boat could have shifted forward from hard braking, over loading the hitch and stressing it...just another angle to consider. No matter what the cause or out come...ya gotta strap your load. Could ya see a trucker put'n a load on a flat bed with no straps or chains and hope he doesn't have any problems??

Default 39 Nortech

It was a 39 Nortec w/ twins, and it did have a painted white myco under it. We came bye after it happened but only got a few camera shots because the crane was just getting there to shut down the road to lift it. We were the last car to get bye before they shut the road down. It also had huge yellow tie downs on the back of the boat. Looks like hard breaking caused the trailer to jack knife, and it ripped it off the front of the trailer off the left side. Hard to say what happen in my pics, looks like the trailer broke at the tongue. The winch stand is still standing upright.

Borrowing the thread here a bit,, but I/m in NPR.. next time you go out.. let's do a little ride.. I'm always up for a ride to the islands.. (Anclote or ? )

I lost the boat, truck and trailer last year to a blow out on I-75.. not a good memory.. I hate to see boats no the road.
They belong in the water.

I would bet it didn't break from braking, its got to be from jack knifing, hitting the bumper, The Myco's are a well made trailer.

But on my aluminum Myco there's only 2 bolts holding the tongue, model 20 coupler to the trailer, same bolts hold the jack on ,the piece that its bolted to is just a 4x4 alum tube thats welded in ,same is the winch stand its connected to.I guess that could be a weak link?????

Also think about the hitch on the truck, the chevy tubular ones look weak to me

Hey Strip,

I think you hit the nail on the head, the whole side of the dually bed was tore up. Looked like the tongue ripped through it.

Paradox,

Did you lose the Avanti? Saw you guys out there a few times this year.

I lost Avanti "one" last Nov. 7, 2007 on the way to the KW. PR.
This is brand new. Very similar paint job,, but totaly new hull motors etc. Took me 4-5 months to finish and rig, etc.... It was my mission to make the 08 KW run, and the boat did just awsome. Plan to go uot this weekend for some training for my son.
