Why control rumors? Isn't it more fun just to let speculation run rampant?

What about a shock load, bursting strenth, like if the toung dug in sudden stopped. It it supose to still hold it?

I would bet these yellow strap hooks would straighten out
I use the blue strap style hooks.

Anyone know how fast he was going?
Seems like straps may have saved him at or below 30mph, but at highway speeds there's no telling what could have happened.

Straps are a must, but that trailer failed huge.
if it was built that lame, I would venture to guess the strap connections welded or bolted to the trailer may not have been up to snuff either.

if you ask me seems like the guy was a newbie , i've never understood 300k and up boats on cheap traillers , are you kidding me ? it seems to me like if you have that money to spend the boat automaticlly goes on a manning or myco.

my boat is practicly worthless and it still has a cable ,strap, and saftey chain on the front and 2 big azz 3" straps on the back , and where the ratchet wants to hit the boat i got these terrycloth waxing pads that simply slide in between the ratchet and the fiberglass ,works awsome for the last 12 years
Cleavers are very pricing.....you are looking at 6 to 10k on a set. I don't want them walking away on top of being dinged by debri on the road.

Lesson to be learned.

1) Always have enough truck for the towing job.
2) Always have enough BRAKE both truck and trailer.
3) Always have a trailer that carry capacity exceeds the capacity of the load.
4) You cannot ever have too many straps or too heavy of a strap.
5) Slow down and allow more distance when weather and traffic conditions require it.
6) Double check all connections, brakes, lights, tires and straps before pulling out.
7) Say a prayer before leaving that someone texting while driving does not wreck you.
