Dito. An open discuss on safety is already good but let's not forgot the human element and spirit here. Condolences to the friends and family.

Default Seatbelts?

I think our version of seat belts are tethers and life jackets. They are what's needed at any speed over 50mph imho. Were the guys wearing life jackets? This has been a tragic year for boaters. It seems like every time I log on recently, there is another boat accident. I say accident because none of these are planned, and it is tragic for family and friends to lose those close to them.
May they all rest in peace. They left us doing what they loved. I wish they were still here to enjoy it more. I don't personally know any of the people involved in accidents this year, but I sincerely wish them and their families my thougths and prayers.
