The boat is simply TOO heavy for that to be effective.

Rob, I did the same thing a few years ago... Had the same kind of lock on the trailer wheel while the boat was stored for the winter.. I was eager to get the boat down to the ramp and launch it for the first run... Pulled forward and ripped it apart.. no damage though....

Now I use a master lock on the trailer tongue instead and my next door neighbor is like the neighborhood watchdog... you fart and she knows about it!
