Even though I live in Atlanta, we do most of our boating Offshore in the gulf, Sanibel/Ft Myers area or Ft Lauderdale.
After boating on the Ocean, lakes Suck! Only think good about them is No Major Clean up.

I run the middle of our lake (Erie) all the time. Hell when i was a kid i did it in a 16 foot wooden Lyman islander. Its only foolish if you are ill prepared or in experianced. I love being on my boat for 3 or 4 days at a time.

My favorite cruise of all time was to take my Ocean right up the center of Lake Huron into the North Channel. No one around and incredibly peaceful. Nothing but a black cloud of Diesel Soot on the lake behind the boat.
