Also, you need to know if you have a steel crank or cast. If I remeber, they started with steel; went to cast; back to steel on some serial number range; and then went back to cast. It's a great, reliable engine but she don't like blowers for too long...
In all sincerity, I do wish you luck and I'd like to hear that you came back 2 seasons later and had no issues worth mentioning after running a blower on this motor.
take care,
jason

He was talkin to whipple about a 6# kit with a new program for the computer. They really hyped over the performance but never once mentioned longevity!
We run 20-30#s of boost in race cars but never in boats. Being that boats are always under a load, its a whole different ball game, even at 6psi....

I installed a whipple that pumps around 5-6 lbs of boost on my 2008 496HO . I ran the boat in several poker runs and ran the boat hard all summer averaging between 4500 - 5300 rpm most of the time and the boat performed flawlessly with over 50 hours prior to the whipple and over 125 hours with the whipple. I would highly reccomend the whipple it proved to be very reliable and the power that it cranks out is amazing. If you go on whipple's site I believe it's around 645HP not bad for a weekend bolt -on.My top end went from 72 gps on friday to 82 gps on Sunday.

I'm actually looking to pull the motor in a couple weeks and and do a motor rebuild . I'm looking to run a little more boost and do a few upgrades cam & exhaust and maybe heads if I can swing it . I'm looking to get to around 700 hp . And maybe see 85.
