Germany in the 30īs who had lots of inventions to make themselves independent of oil.
That was surely and alarming threat to the oil producers then... which happened to be U.S.A and Russia at the time.
But fast forward to today... by regulating the oil to a certain affordable level the boatindustry can also prosper.
India also tired to become independent of oil especially diesel in the 50īs but oil was so cheap at the time the need just washed away. Nowadays because of the pollution in india itīs making a comeback.

Won't do any good to pump it out as the profits go straight into the pockets of people that don't need any more money. And as for jobs, there is no difference in putting a guy to work re building a bridge or running the pumps. And actually, the pumps run themselves from what I have seen. You just need somebody to go make sure the wire is still connected to the pole and to back the truck up every once in a while to empty out the holding tanks.
