anyone have pics of there engine compartment..
I am trying to get some idea's before I start my cleanup of the bilge this week... I have to paint , changes some wires and make it all look pretty  plus slap down some daimondplate. any ideas would help..
Thanks Travis |
Travis, how about splatter painting the bilge to match the outside? It looks pretty sharp. Just an idea.
|
Yupers.. i had that in mind too.. I have to find a yellow to match my yellow... I will soon..
It's gonna be bright white bilge with yellow splatter. I am about to buy all my wire loom, which color would look better... yellow loom or white? i am undecided.. |

traviss I am doign eth same thing now too. I pulled everything and and am planning on basically re-rigging the engine bay after i finish the clean up.
Mine had losts of stains and soem nasty funky old oil. (I forgot eth oil coller was full of oil when we removed my engine, what an awful mess) So there was lots of funmk in there. To remove it i wip[ed up most of the big stuff and got it into eth center between eth stringer. Then wet dry vacced most of it. To get eth residue I broke out the spray gun and mineral spirts. Make sure you wear a good respirator. I then just sprayed teh spirits on and scrubbed liek mad. the oil/residue/funk.mineral spirts mixture ran into teh bilge and i just wet dry vacced all that up. Had to re-do it a couple times but it worked pretty well and broke down most of eth oil so i can apply teh epoxy coating to smooth it all out. FYI put a think leaf/lawn bag in yoru wet dry vac so you can just pull it out, tie it off and dispose of it with otu havign to dump the wet dry vac. good luck. I will post some pics once i finish up. |
I am lookimg to add thru-hull to my SBC..I have a Alpha hooked to it. Can someone tell me the work involved ..or even a shot..PIC of your engine bay....Thanks
|
I'm just abouy to put mine back in (I'll post pics soon). My boat is white with lime green and purple stripes, so I painted the blocks, heads and intakes lime green. everything else (valve covers, pulleys, exhaust, brackets, power steering pumps and oil coolers) I had powder coated purple. Left the flame arestors and risers stainless. Bilge is white. looks VERY cool, and didn't cost that much. I also replaced al the faseners with new stainless ones (cost less than $50.00) just to totaly clean it up. Good luck. Be waiting for your pics when your done.

Madcow I'm glad to see that someone has the balls to use lime green. I had a Cuda that color and have liked it ever since. You have to post some pics of the motor.

I'd post a pic of mine, but why would you want to see an empty engine bay?:D

I went with simple bright white. (Sterling in this case.) Makes it nice and bright in there when you're trying to find the %#@*&!! screwdriver bit that you dropped....

Back4More, SprayNine or GrezOff usually works nice.

Purple glass on the underneath side of the hatch. Diamond plate on the floor across the stringers. Makes working on the engines nice, something to stand on. Also lights in the engine compartment. Looks cool as hell at night.:D :D

I agree with the Diamond plate...Keeps the stringers from gettin foot prints all over them.

Here it is. 1999 fountain. I used a high gloss, bright white two part paint. Great stuff.

Wow I am impressed... all of you have nice clean compartments with those big funny blue colored motors ;)
I have some ideas now and the way it looks, i'll stay away from the splatter look. Nice clean white bilge is the way to go. Then all the wires will be wrapped in white colored wire loom. Then some daimondplate replacing the carpet next to the engine. thanks for all the pics and ideas.. Travis |
