Ya but it only made 1457 ft/lbs of torque thats what pushes the boat not HP.

Cobra attack helicopter power plants.

T55,s are the Chinook Helicopter power plants
These also come in different versions.

Geicos yet to use the big t55,s yet in a race.
Agreed, they are using the smaller motors to race with.

The torque is at 15,752rpm. Bring that down to 5700rpm prop speed and you have 4000ft/Ibs torque. Bingo
Do you think that will move the boat Lolll.
I believe those engine are way gone and sitting in some pull tractor right now.

J Arruba would u happen to have any h/p and torque curve garphs from a tubine. i would be very interested in comparing them with a piston engine.

Keep in mind these engines can run at maximum takeoff power for up to 15 minutes.

A Gas Turbine engine is far superior to any piston counterpart
period. Its physics.

Here are some plots off a T53 13B. John may have some of the 703 versions.

its relative to the rotational speed of n2.

In case you were wondering this is what they came out of.

Think they have enough torque to move the Mystic?

Now if we could just get someone to make some 500HP turbines to compete with all these 525's.

knot-right these are very impressive motor. I have never said they weren't. I was pretty sure J Arruda was incorrect with his statement that at 5700 they would make 4000 ft/lbs of torque. These motor dont drop off like piston motors. They have a very steady increasing torque curve that builds with rpms.
