Good lord, this is the first time I have seen this thread.... This makes pistons look like a complete joke........

Piston motors (4 stroke) only make power 50% of the time.

Turbines make power continuously.

Any pictures or specs? What kind of hull is it? Are they going to try for a speed record run? I am assuming they will not race the monster....

Yup, they race it but it has T55s that make about 1800 hp each.

Still a scream machine. 50' Mystic, old Callan hull.

Actually Ron I think you mean T53,s which are the 703 version.
Cobra attack helicopter power plants.

T55,s are the Chinook Helicopter power plants
These also come in different versions.

Geicos yet to use the big t55,s yet in a race.

Ya but it only made 1457 ft/lbs of torque thats what pushes the boat not HP.

The torque is at 15,752rpm. Bring that down to 5700rpm prop speed and you have 4000ft/Ibs torque. Bingo
Do you think that will move the boat Lolll.
I believe those engine are way gone and sitting in some pull tractor right now.

J Arruba would u happen to have any h/p and torque curve garphs from a tubine. i would be very interested in comparing them with a piston engine.
