Something to Ponder On

Think about this and lets see what response we get.

A woman is getting ready for bed, as she does she is reading a book. She tires..... closes the book, turns out the light and goes to sleep.

When she wakes, she is reading the newspaper and finds out the in the night a ship has crashed and their are NO survivors.

The woman is so distraught over the incident that she takes her own life.

Why???

This is a good Brain Teaser for a Wednesday

:D :D

mattyboy 03-20-2002 10:50 AM

she was on the boat and the news papers are never wrong so she had to take her own life
mattyboy

CatAttack 03-20-2002 10:53 AM

She was reading a book because her husband was away on a cruise the boat sank he's dead she had nothing to live for ???

PhantomChaos 03-20-2002 10:57 AM

She had 100% of her investment portfolio in stock of the ship's insurance company. Just a guess.

LutzParty 03-20-2002 11:08 AM

NOPE

She is not related to anyone on the boat, does not own a part of the cruise ship line, and the only investment she has is WalMart (made a killing withit in the 70-80s)

Keep guessing........:D

KCHOTBOAT 03-20-2002 11:16 AM

She missed the boat.

Shorgasm 03-20-2002 11:21 AM

supercrash 03-20-2002 11:22 AM

LutzParty 03-20-2002 11:28 AM

In 1885 a man went on a 4 day business trip via horseback.
He left on Tuesday and returned on Tuesday.

Um....Duh, I think she would have known at the time, if a big mother ship hit her lighthouse. And besides, if she was using a light that bright to read by, she'd be blind and wouldn't be able to read a book, or the newspaper...........:p ;) ;)

P.S. - I think you got it....................

Here's one

Everything Mr Red owns is red, he lives in a red bungalow and his chairs are red, his tables are red. His ceiling, walls and floor are all red. All of this clothes are red, his shoes are red, even his carpet, television and phone are red. What colour are his stairs?

LutzParty 03-20-2002 11:52 AM

Dang

You got that one fast

ok here is another

A man lives on the 6th floor or an apartment building
Each day he rides the elevator to the 1rst floor and goes to work
Each night he returns and rides the elevator to the 3rd floor and walks the last 3 floors

Why?

supercrash 03-20-2002 11:59 AM

Back to the first story...It would be easy to figure out if you assume somebody could be so stupid..She knows she is at work...and she knows the light will keep the boats off the shoreline......Yet she behaves like she is at motelk 6...The person that should kill themselves is the person that hired her.

A bungalow does not have any stairs.

The man is a midget and can only reach the third floor button :(

The Hotel

Three men on a business trip check into a local hotel. The front desk charges them $30 for the room. Each man pays $10.

Later the manager discovers that the room is only $25. So, he sends the bellhop up to their room with $5 (five $1 bills).

When the bellhop explains the situtation, he gives the men the $5. However, the three men cannot evenly split $5, so they give $2 back to the bellhop, and each man keeps $1.

So, if each man paid $9 ($27 total), and the bellhop has $2, where did the missing $1 go? $27 + $2 = $29 not $30

:D

Risk Taker 03-20-2002 12:22 PM

Alright...................Clay can't play anymore !!!!!!:D ;)

LutzParty 03-20-2002 12:24 PM

I know this one too. but will refrain from answering.

:D

Note to Supercrash

They can't all be superclever. Superaccept it and get superover it. :D

Note to Risk Taker

If I've heard it before, I will refrain from answering (from now on).

I admit that I have heard the elevator one, but I had not heard the horse riddle or the bungalow riddle. I figured those out all by myself. :p

:D :D :D

P.S. Keep 'em comming. I love riddles!

Sydwayz 03-20-2002 12:33 PM

"and each man keeps $1"
The bellhop is a man kept a buck for himself.

mattyboy 03-20-2002 12:35 PM

I GOT IT

the bell hops name is tuesday, and he has no lights in his apt.
 :p :p :D
Mattyboy

WRedmann 03-20-2002 12:42 PM

the total in question is 25, not 30

9 + 9 + 9 - 2 =25

laster 03-20-2002 12:42 PM

This is a little hard to explain but I'll try. Each man paid 9 dollars. 9 times 3 equals 27. 25 dollars for the room and 2 bucks for the bellhop.

TO put it another way - they spent 30 for the room and got 5 back. Total spent so far 25 buck. Plus 2 for the bellhop > 27.00 total Divided by 3 equals 9 dollars. Seems simple enough until semantics gets in the way of easy math.:D

Mattyboy

LMFAO :D :D :D

LutzParty 03-20-2002 12:50 PM

Actually
Each man paid $9.00=$27.00
The bell hop gave them each $1.00 back = $3.00

Total $27.00 + $3.00 = $ 30.00

cha ching.

Clay Washington 03-20-2002 12:56 PM

LMAO @ Mattyboy

You forgot that the bellhop is a midget who lives in a bungalow. :p

Everyone else (except Sydwayz23), you are correct.

We got a sharp crowd today! :D

Risk Taker 03-20-2002 01:02 PM

OK Gang....Try this one

Study this paragraph and all things in it. What is vitally wrong with it? Actually, nothing in it is wrong, but you must admit that it is most unusual. Don't just zip through it quickly, but study it scrupulously. With luck you should spot what is so particular about it and all words found in it. Can you say what it is? Tax your brains and try again. Don't miss a word or a symbol. It isn't all that difficult...?

Clay Washington 03-20-2002 01:09 PM

It doesn't contain the word the ?

mattyboy 03-20-2002 01:12 PM

"the" midget part always throws me!

Mattyboy

Sydwayz 03-20-2002 01:15 PM

OK, OK, I see your rationale, but my way works too demmit!

Wildfire 03-20-2002 01:45 PM

I know, but only because I have seen this beforE. So I won't spoil the fun.

LutzParty 03-20-2002 01:55 PM

You know the twist to the midget thing is that on rainy days he could ride the elevator all the way to the 6th floor.

Should we refer to the person in this as vertically challenged? :D

mxz800 03-20-2002 01:56 PM

i jst wanna know where you can get a room for three guys to stay for 25 dollars a night !!! :D

Close..................

mattyboy 03-20-2002 02:05 PM

it uses all the letters of the alphabet,
and the midget on rainy days can ride to the six floor, cause he wears lifts in his gollashers!!!!!

Mattyboy

Clay Washington 03-20-2002 02:10 PM

Hmmmm...

Let's see... It was an entire paragraph. It was posted on the OffShore Only forum. It doesn't contain any porn or curse words. It doesn't contain hurtful words toward anyone or their boat.

What's so unusual about that? ;)
