Thumbs up

Great Pics!!! I never get tired of seeing new ideas coming out of the molds. Keep them coming. Steve, If you want to send me a bunch of pics to put up on my website, let me know. Hope you can attend SKATERFEST. It would be quite interesting to hear some conversation amongst you, Peter Hledin from SKATER and George Linder of Conquest.

That’s a deal Mr. Sharkey Also on the side I am working on a Resin Infusion system of my own (KRYPTON) and a Vacuum Bag system (Quick Bag) .the selling features are the fact that One doesn’t fill the Dumpster with expensive disposables .and the speed is another feature.

Let me guess... Is it some sort of Pre-Pregnator with a Scrim rolling through with the glass???

Steve1,
I was wondering if sometime i could talk to you about boat design? I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Vermont and am trying to decide if I want to go into Naval Architecture at The University College of London. Thanks for your time.

Vtec interesting you said that! First my thoughts; as the EPA tightens its grips on the Reactive chemicals and some of the Solvents that we use everyday in the Fiberglass Boat industry, You may very well see much more Prepeg and Epoxies used, Towards the higher end, of performance boats at first. Then drifting down.

Basically has to do with the cost of doing business, as using the cheaper materials becomes more costly (this sounds crazy but) Then the formerly expensive becomes the cheapest way, By Avoiding the Paperwork and penalties, taxes, daily fines, additional licenses, and ext. The cold storage if needed and oven become a very logical trade off .Plus it’s not “if” but “when” Styrene is classified as a carcinogen, with retroactive penalties for the employers. Look out!

The advantage to me is the fact that filament ratio to resin can be custom tailored, and the obvious fact that it is ready to use, upon arrival at the shop door .Cuts down drastically on the amount of epoxy storage in house. Now this brings me to KRYPTON my Infusion system. Say you are Mr. just closed down Boat Builder seems too much vapor emission And with some standing orders no less, The pencil necked environmental ones have just left, So what do you do?? Maybe you call someone you heard of, they come over and layout this plan, it goes as follows the all the boats Input is to be cut a certain way, and kitted out so to speak. Day one Gel coat and skin out, Day Two all the Kit is in place, Day three the Resin shot! Maybe 4 hours, boat Hull done but wait here is the difference! The Stringers and bulkheads were done as well, plus nothing expensive in the dumpster. And here is the good part Krypton molding no vapor emissions except for the pump exhaust. Now would that not be worth a gold Doubloon to Steve 1

Quick Story that open fisherman was setup for bonding the inside liner system with an 8” 1708 tape so to speed up the job I built a 12” impregnator not being able to find a Air motor locally to power the rollers, I did the next best thing a Hand Crank was used instead, 6 of my top glass guys could not keep up with the thing! If I had a lot of coffee or tea that morning the machine got cranked a little faster, for crew morale reasons I retired the thing..
