I want to go!!!! Mark, can I borrow your pontoon? Maybe my jet ski......

ZXXX Donzi 09-30-2009 04:42 PM

I will be there. You can count me in. I keep my cruiser at F-Dock at Hale's Bar.

I will bring either my Donzi X-18 or the 26ZX if I feel up to taking it off the lift at Center Hill.

Not in Atlanta Powerboat Club. Just thinking about coming up for the run. Will the water conditions be similar to the Knoxville run?

You will be running mostly in a gorge from Chattanooga to about 5 miles above Nickajack Dam. The scenery is spectacular. One of the top scenic section on the Great Loop Cruise. The water is usually pretty smooth with exception of some cruiser wakes. I will do it in my X-18 any given day. I do the run a good bit but is usually to take the cruiser to downtown Chattanooga for dinner and drinks. I was actually heading there on the 24th but it sounds like I will stick around Hale's Bar!

Out There 10-01-2009 07:45 AM

I thought the scenery in Knoxville was outstanding. I was mostly thinking about depth and navigation. Never been on the river in the Chattanooga area. Sounds excellent. Now just have to get my boat back together.

Navigation is no problem. There is a navigation channel. It does neck down around Raccoon Mountain (halfway point)where it gets DEEP in the gulch created by an earthquake. I have north of 150 feet on the transponder. I have heard reports of 200+.

It is an easy place to navigate. Now get that boat together and come on.

flenner 10-01-2009 10:06 AM

How many miles will the run cover? I don't want to fill my tanks all the way up since this will probably be my last run of the year.

It is around 35 miles from Hale's Bar to Chattanooga and a few more miles if you go from Nickajack dam to Chattanooga.

The area this run will cover is gorgeous, especially through the gorge. I got a chance to run down there in 2007 with some folks on a fall color cruise and really enjoyed it. Wish I still had my boat, I would do this run in a heartbeat.

The area was very easy to navigate.

This is the real reason Gerald bought a new boat. Notice in the bottom picture (see post #26) that my Baja is pulling away from his 35 Fountain.

Yup. I see you got a new ride since then. I was in the 25 Outlaw black with red flames that day. That run was a great ending to our season that year.

What GNgeorgia said but you won't see that sign immediately. They took it down because they got tired of people driving through the neighborhood. It will be the first left after the C-store (Anchor Inn). If you miss it, there will be a Hale's Bar sign about 1/2 mile on the left and you can follow that. Do a search under Hale's Bar Marina and they will have directions.

There is a good chance I will be there Friday night. Post or pm if you are coming and I will tell you how to find my slip. It is over near the cabins.

Come on down. The dock residence are partiers and they are cool with loud boats. It is a laid back environment.

There is a bunch to do in Chattanooga but if you are road weary I would recommend hitting the Mexican restaurant in Jasper. It is nearby and they serve powerful drinks if you ask for the top shelf.

The run to downtown and back is 70 miles. 35 each way.

Thanks...unfortunately, we sold the boat last year when our son was born. So far I have not found the perfect replacement yet.

I would love to join the run and may be able to if my buddy and I can get his Pantera back together in time.

The boat is in the shop for some upgrades but we may be coming up in a 25 eliminator with a little 640 in her.
