Thanks, Steve. Don't go to a lot of trouble. I am happy with my set up but a person always wonders if something else is better. Much appreciated.

Well today was a day I will remember for a long time. When we arrived yesterday one of the locals to meet us in the Marina was a guy named Doug. He owns the Tiki Hut restaurant that overlooks the Turtle Cove Marina and also some water sports business. He was dying for a ride on Team PREDATOR so we asked him to get a few friends together and show us the local waters. He said he wanted to barefoot behind Team PREDATOR and I thought he was surely joking. He was not. His Master Craft followed us with his gear out to a protected channel and on the 3rd try he got up but ate it a few seconds later. On try number 4 he actually skied for quite a distance barefoot and we have the pics ! Jay was in the Mastercraft running alongside and captured it and I had one of his buddies shoot it with my camera from the boat. Too funny. He was so excited.
After that we went to a spot where the locals all hang out. Everyone treated us like rock stars and were so cool. it was a blast. Wait till you see the pics of the shrimp they cooked up on the BBQ. It was a great day.
Tomorrow morning we are off to Ocean World in the Dominican Republic. It is just over 200 miles and if we can clear customs in good time we will likely go farther but not crazy about staying at Samana and Punta Cana may be too far to make so we will just see how it goes. :)

Bobthebuilder 05-23-2010 07:20 PM

Shrimp anyone ?

Doug cooked these up on the BBQ with a spicy jerk seasoning. Unbelievable.

This pic shows the surf breaking over the reef of Provo where we are. It runs along most of the shore just a quarter mile off the beach.

Wow, love the pics! So what's the plan in the BVI's, is that the turn around point or are you going to continue on down to the Grenadines? St. Vincent and Union island are fantastic!

Bob and Jay
Sorry I missed you guys. I was in Grand Turk on Friday during my Cruise port visit. Did not wander far out for the boat. Margaritaville was my hang out.

The waters and scenery are beautiful there. Enjoy your adventure!!!

Wow!! They made it to the Dominican Republic! Need PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jayboat 05-25-2010 09:26 AM

Hey guys, just a quick update to let you know we are fine- there was no internet in the hotel last night.

We're doing some pre-flight maintenance this morning and then on to Puerto Rico. It's a 300 mile reach- we plan to run the north shore of DR and then along the north side of PR as the ocean is absolutely dead flat calm today.

We are also waiting for the Dominican Navy and the drug guys to come by and give us clearance to leave, so I will try to get up a few pix if time permits.

The adventure continues. :coolcowboy:

JCG 05-25-2010 09:33 AM

Where in Puerto Rico will you guys stop? Not too many places on the north shore. I'm on the south side, but if you have any questions or need any info let me know! Have a safe trip!

Julian

Jay and Bob,
By now you are on your way,,or even in San Juan.
The San Juan area can get a little rough, but am sure you will be able to make it

You might want to pull into the Fajardo area before heading across to St Thomas and U.S VI /BVI

Wishing you a safe trip and Enjoy Ole San Juan.
have a Don Q Rum and or a ice cold Medalla Beer for me

Jim

Looking at their Spot feed, it seems they decided to go due south of Puerto Rico. Lets see where they dock. Hope they pass by Ponce and say hello! jeje. Great trip and thread!

DollaBill 05-25-2010 04:53 PM

From the tracker,, looks like more towards La Parguera or Guanica, but could be heading towards Ponce..
Boqueron would be a good place at Club Nautica
but looks like he is passed there from the tracker.

Thank you
Jim

DollaBill 05-25-2010 06:07 PM

I know some crazy phuking PR gangsters down in Ponce if they want to go out and have a great time one night while they are there

dammmagnum 05-25-2010 06:16 PM

If Bob and Jay are in Guanica ,, they can stay the night at the CopaMarina resort,, Really nice place and great resturant

Lets see when they check in

They can head off tomorrow to the Fajardo area or even to the islands of Vieques or Culebra then to St Thomas.

Thank you
Jim

LOL. True

turbo rr 05-25-2010 09:16 PM

I wondered why they went south of pr.....But if you think of it it would be a smoother ride if they stay south come north of vieques and south of culebra. I hope they look out for the reef south of culebra. Do you think the nortech could fit under the bridge in culebra?

Bobthebuilder 05-25-2010 09:16 PM

Puerto Plata, DR to Ponce, PR

We are now in our rooms at the Ramada Inn in downtown Ponce. The boat is on "B" dock at the Ponce Yacht Club. There will be no party tonight as we had a tough day out there and we are both beat. The day started off so unbelievably nice back at Puerto Plata. The beauracracy there is nuts. Contrary to what I was told, no bribes were asked for. I did tip them tho and they are looking forward to our return. :) We did not get away till after 11 AM and that made it tough to do 300 miles to San Juan. After the first 40 miles the weather turned real nasty on us. A front came thru with wind, rain and seas picking up. For half the day we could only run 35 to 40 MPH safely. Every half hour the seas would change on us. 3 times I altered our course between the north and south shore of PR. After I concluded we could not get settled into a slip in San Juan before dark, I decided to head for the south shore which was the right thing to do.
I think we will just hang here for tomorrow and head across to BVI and get settled in there Thursday. I still have some steering issues that need looked at and there are mechanics here so will take care of that as well.
I will check our mileage but think it was in the neighborhood of about 240 - 260 miles which was decent given the conditions.
I will have to leave it to Jay to post pics. I had my hands full driving today

Last night when the taxi was taking us to the Ramada he stopped in front of this firehouse. It was pouring rain and I'm tired saying "please, just get me to my Hotel". He obviously felt it was a must see for us so now I feel bad I did not show more interest. Jay and I will check it out today with pics. Someone at the marina told us about how quaint the Ramada is. Very nicely restored and was a good choice. Not your typical Ramada Inn for sure.
