JO, Did you overbuild the boat to get this weight (it appears so from your statements regarding P1 rules)? If so what do you estimate the boat could weigh if layed up as light as possible, while keeping the Pantera quality? Thanks, DK

Since it was the 1st time we had run a new 41' my friend JC the owner of the original "Warpath" Apache 41' let me borrow the props off of it ( 32 pitch 4 blade ) to give us a baseline. They were all over the rev limiters at 84 MPH with the drives tucked in and approximately 25 % left of throttle so I did not bother to run the boat anymore until the following day.

The following day Mercury Racing Factory Rep. (Brad Halpin) brought along a set of ( 17 1/4 by 35 ) 5 blades that were much faster and accelerated awesome. The slip # were also much improved over the 4 blade props off of Warpath. I could not get the gentelman shooting the video to come out the following day on such a short notice. We will add more footage from Europe in the coming weeks after the new 41' makes it race debut next week in Sardinia, Italy.

We will be testing a few more Mercury Racing and Hering props on Tuesday so I am sure the boat will only be getting faster with more test time.

Awsome Boat! Do you have any idea what the pleasure version is going to weigh? Any guesses on speed with 700s. This boat is going to be amazing.. Gongrats!!

After seeing the speeds we are seeing with this new 41' at 10,500 pounds with a pair of 525 EFI / NXT1 # 6 drives I would guess that 105-110 MPH range would be realistic speeds with 700 SCI Merc. packages in a full staggered configuration.

As soon as we complete the "full pleasure" version with the 525 EFI / Bravo 1 XR drives I will get it weighed and let you all know. It should be in the 9500 - 10,000 pound range.

This same 41' race version could be around 1000 pounds lighter with out a problem. In P1 with the strict rules of power to weight ratio and having to come in at approximately 10,500 pounds we knew weight was not going to be an issue for us.

We also have 350 gallons of fuel capacity between 2 tanks incase our customer wants to run a few long distance races.
