Saturdays Fun Run to Boca Grande helped put boat size & conditions into perspective for me!

Swede 11-23-2011 08:47 PM

So what are you saying? After all that tweeking and hard work could this Key West video be the final chapter for NASCAT?

Somebody is going to get a bad a$$ bullet proof package if you end up selling it. I wish it was me but I need to sell a few thousand photos.

All good things must come to an end!! Going thru the boat bow to stern in an effort to make it ready for sale early next year!

I didn't realize the Sunsation pic was a link to the KW Video. I was like what the hell???

That is an awesome video capturing the entire trip. Thanks for pulling that together. It's a definite keeper!

Very possible NASCAT will be returning to it's very first home out west.

As much as I'm tempted I think it will be similar size, slower & have a cabin.

I have known this boat since we built it for Mills ............Mike (HMS) bought this 30 and has done so many upgrades to it...........
Plus, from day 1, it has always been stored inside.

Mike washes the boat then vacums the carpet before backing the boat in! No chit! Lol

Awesome boat - would be at the top of my list if I were in the market for a cat. Good luck with the sale.

Whats speeds did you get when you got it dialed in ? Love that boat. Artie

Yep, I can attest. Being the boat B*tch on NASCAT is definitely a choir... But worth it. The lines have to have the correct colored velcro strap based on their length before being stored.

That metric adjustable torque wrench he uses to put the props on is off the chain, but, his torque settings are questionable at the least.

Where's the love? Geez!

I personally saw 135 w/ the original Bravo setup but the GPS had 137 recorded on it so it's been at least that fast. Today I'm seeing 135 w/ the new ILMOR Indy Drives & Trans w/ a pr of 5 blade 37 Herings. We ran 120-125 most of the way to Key West last Nov. very comfortably.

Not too shabby given the static & rotating weight I gained w/ drive upgrade.

I'm positive one could see 140 w/ some bigger wheels but thats not how I boat so it's geared & propped for all around boating & acceleration. Gets on plane w/ ease, no need to tuck in the drives or lower the tab full of fuel w/ 4-5 on board.

If I could get my hands on a set of bigger props I'd see what it could do but no one local to me has a set.

akaboatman 05-11-2012 09:18 AM

Thanks. That boat really turned out sweet. Hate to see you selling after all that time an work. Great job. Artie

Thanks Artie, it's been a challenging but great project. It appears that someone else will benefit from the collaborative efforts!

I'm sure I can find a new project!

akaboatman 05-11-2012 09:25 AM

Cant wait to see what that might be.
