We have a set of drill fixtures for # 6's . The fixture has collets that were placed using CAD/CAM, all you do is bolt the fixture to the transom, using the old holes and drill through the collets.

You may want to consider a thicker transom for rigidity. If so, longer gimbal studs will make the drill fixture even more appreciated.
