Lightning Performance Group 50' Mystic at LOTO???

How did that four engine boat run? What speed(s) did it achieve? I missed the result of how it ran at the LOTO shoot-out.

I would have thought that Keith Eickert would have had it pretty dialed in, what happened?

I'm pretty sure it never came off the trailer. I think they ran out of time to finish rigging it.

That could explain the "no results." I figured KE & DO would have that dialed-in when it comes time to run.

Whats up with the tire at the back of the trailer?

Something I hadn't seen before- very trick setup that I assume assists in launch/retrieval of that beast. Maybe to keep the trailer from dragging at the top of a ramp?

I had seen that same type of set up on the JBS trailer. I thought it was so the boat could be ramp launched and would aid in retrieval so the boat could rely on the rollers if the trailer cannot be fully submerged.

The boat is not complete. Still a bunch of rigging to do. The trailer is Don's own design. The trailer itself is not intended to be submerged. The boat is slid back hydralically on rails. Thus the wheels in the back.

It is considered a twin engine boat.

My Dad and Don grew up together. My Dad has worked on many of Don's boat including his old GM Goodwrench Betram race boat, a Cougar, the 4 engine Skater, and now this boat. He built the dash and has been helping Don's crew with other misc. items on the boat. He said they were really busting hump in the weeks up to the Shootout but just flat ran out of time. Hopefully it will be on the water in LOTO next spring getting dialed in. This will be the first boat running those V-16 mills.
