I looked at a few last summer doc who had the purple twin 800hp boat with yellow , also a steal on a 35 cafe a friend bought instead. my needs are small its no fun runninhg in 6 to 8s in thing been there cape race in 02 didn't matter what boat you had something was breaking that day and did in all class mine my bolster and navigator was worried me running no bolster bounce around like a pimg pong ball even a sv fountain broke its hull. so you may see me haha it was fun in the 90s before steps pickin on the big boats. now at 28ft I can run 90 to 100 in 2 to 3s the only other boat to have fun in going over a 100 in 4 to 5s ios a skater 46 with turbines, riding shot gun in rough water they were not have as nice a ride as us. its funny the people I move to a old cig or new think there chit don't stink, but theres a lot of us just chuckle and let it ride.but the real #1 should be richie sr he never sold the company built boats before DON but built them not put the cooks together sell a few boats then sell the co and start the same boat over with a different name Donzi should have had the 1 they came 1st. but RICHIE built the pt boats 1st then went in to offshore and still beating other boat COs that went to stepped hulls which we see in videos cigs spinning out throwing there crew here down in fl and in russia haha.after you ride in walts 39 sut tell me there not it no beak no step no bull sutphen powerboats the real #1 in offshore racing they never had adds and tv bull like cig did in the 80s or 90s nope.I hope to be running new boat in weeks before my next surgery and if it sux it will be dis manteled I will talk to richie again haha, I tried steal the red hull he has ready now but we didn't agree and that new 31 will keep up with a 38 if its BOXER Ernies boat and with him driving will give as good a ride as any vee with in 5ft. later don't hate cigs its funnyhow some of you guys act its like the fountain guys of a few yes ago they were the fastest won most of the late races cause it was a 9 to1 average or all fountains in a class at the races reg blew his money with adds sponsorships which helps formula did that my bubby raced 5yrs in f2 broke a part the boats a 99, next was a 02 I think cause to get money you had to buy new boat every 3yrs and Isaw what he paid they were a lot cheaper than regular customers or retail:grinser010:

If Santa put one of these under our tree this year I would do the following.
If it were a Cigarette 39: I would treat it as if it were one of my kids. Cherish it as if it was a rare family heirloom that would never be sold -even though we all know we get the itch to change our boats every 3-5 years. I would enjoy the pride of ownership and performance that can only come with a Cigarette. It it were a Nortech 39: I would be on the horn that morning to Terry Sobo so quickly working a deal for a 43 or 50 center console, it would be comical. (And I don't even know if he celebrates Christmas!) There is just something about the 39 that I really can't pinpoint in terms of styling, that I don't care for. It literally is the only model in thier entire line-up that I feel that way about. If it were an Outerlimits: I would sell it. |

Interesting point that no one has brought up yet...... Why if Cig #1, the best the one and only are the three head cheerleaders all selling there boats? Joe Fitness, PM203 and Omerta all have their #1 Cig's for sale......hmmmm. Many page hits on all, some for sale over a year and despite them being the best, #1, the fastest, some collector's item's (Gladiators no longer in production) some race champions (Omerta's went to Bimini) yet no one stepped up to buy these cherished rigs?
Maybe the buyers are simply too jealous to step up, maybe the sellers don't serve enough "kool-aid" or maybe the hype is simply that, hype. :D Note two of the three boats are the cherished, special "Lipship" Edition. This must be a dream, I can't believe these haven't sold! It should be like selling Picassos, GT40s or any other insanely valuable item, let the bidders drive the price to the moon! All in good fun fellas, you guys have great boats but the cheerleading is funny! |
Don't be a dick. You know it takes time to sell any one of these style boats. I have had more than several offers and could have sold my boat already. The problem is I will not give it away. I am not going to blow out a boat just to get rid of it. And speaking of Cigarette, show me a better 39 V out there. You can't.

I~m gonna steal a BMW joke...
Whats the difference between a Cig. and a Porcupine ?...
The Cig. has pricks on the inside:drink: |

Your not? I am. We have owned one. In fact, I still have the speeds from when Mike originally tested our old 37' Ol. Dude, I respect your opinion but sometimes you got to put down the pom-pon's. My friend's 38 TG ran 87 all day in fresh water. It ran 85 with 10 people in it! Our 37 with hooked up 575's just barely touched the low 90's. Not trying to argue..just stating my opinion, and we all know they are like a$$holes, everyone has one

A 37OL with staggered 575's runs 90, not side by side like yours was which is the same as a T/S gun. The 37 Expoxy boat with 525's also ran 90. The 37 with stock 500's runs right around 80 which is also true for the T/S Gun. The 525 Guns normally run 84-86 everyday. This is just from my experience, but not having owned them.
What does a 37' AT run for speed? Nor Tech 38'? |

Man this thread hasn't really explained any of the differences other than some are built better than others, but nobody says why.
What is the difference in construction layup of each brand? What is the difference in materials used for each brand? Which one spins out easier? Which one is easier to drive? I kind of like the 37AT. Did I read something about this hull being a new apache hull at one point, but was "adopted" by AT. What is the story with the 37AT and Apache connection? Or am I just imagining things. |

I thought we summed it up. The 39 Cigarette is the best overall boat for that size and unlimited budget. The Nortech is a close second, but suffers in the looks dept. The 37 Ol while nice is not in the leauge of the others due to age. All three boats are winners. it all depends how much $$ you want to spend and what your personal preferences are. Any one of the three mentioned are excellent choices.

1.) By "Epoxy boat" do you mean that there was only (1) 37 Epoxy stilleto made or (1) Epoxy 37 made with 525's? 2.) By Experience do you mean that you have ample seat time running Cig 38 TS's with 500's and 525's and you have run both types Epoxy and Non-Epoxy Stilletos? |

Getting to the main Question in Post#1:
39 Cig: Great all around boat especially hard to beat with Merc 700's. Classic lines and great looks. Kinda skimpy in the cabin but very well rigged, very well thought out helm especially when it comes to ergonomics, Above average performance and exceptional handling and rough water capability. Best resale of the three and in this tough economy they are still selling, slowly but still selling. 39Nortech: Talking with TS of NT I was told the 39 is a great boat. There are not as many around and I think that has to do with the economy and the fact that they have weird lines and not the most appealing looking boat. Great build quality and great company. Very nice cabins with more amenities than Cig and quality rigging. Not sure about the resale. I think it would depend on the specific boat and how it's set up. 37 OL: I have not been in one but a friend (Cowisl) has owned one and in several conversations with him I was told they are a great boat. Good performance and great in the Rough Stuff. Cabins are the nicest of the three by far. Big deep gunwales and roomy. Very nice lines as well. OL obviously has some of the coolest hardware out there and that speeks volumes. I would think resale for the 37 would be decent but not along the same lines as the Cig. The statements I made about resale are based on many things but keep in mind that the Cig's are mostly Merc powered offerings where you are going to find more different combos in the NT and OL (like aftermarket power) which can hurt resale. just my .02 |

Not sure what you are asking....MSRP? I suspect they are all 350-400K boats @ 39 ft/700's at a minimum. I have said it before, if I was building a new 400-500K boat Terry from NT would get the call. I love the 427 and think that is a much better looking boat than the 39V but with the right paint the 39 can be a decent looking boat (Stu @ FPC had the best looking 39 so far). |
