What Are Main Differences? Cig, Nor Outer...

If you were looking at a 38 footer or so, purchasing used, which would you choose? What are the main differences?
Nortech 39
Cig 39
Outerlimits 37 Single Step

offshorexcursion 09-23-2010 10:22 PM

All three! Nice boats. Every one that I have been on impressed me.

OL40SVX 09-23-2010 10:46 PM

Outerlimits!:D

Griff 09-24-2010 12:59 AM

All good choices, but different boats.

Nortech will have the most creature comforts.
Cig will have the best rough water ride.
The OL will probably be older since they last made the 37 in 2005 and not even sure how many they made.

BillR 09-24-2010 05:42 AM

Cig, best ride, best handling

Jassman 09-24-2010 05:53 AM

38 Power Play..

39 Rockit

37 A.T.

now you have 3 other choices

Here's Johnny 09-24-2010 07:44 AM

Moving up ??

ActiveFun 09-24-2010 08:09 AM

I wish Johnny. One day I hope. I always wanted a 38 Top Gun but that was before these other boats were invented. Just was wondering what people had to say. As a 33PP owner how could I forget the 38PP. You are correct Jassman, that would be up there in the running but probably harder and harder to find as the years go by. Which did they make more of, 38PP's or 37OL's?
Thanks

There's alot more 37 Outerlimits out there.

Yep...both great boats.

pm203 09-24-2010 08:35 PM

Cigarette 39 if you want the best overall. The 39 Nortech is a nice boat , but not pretty.

I think they said there's maybe 18 of the PP 38's if I recall. Seeing as several are overseas or out of the US, there aren't many out there! It's a shame too, as I'm pretty sure there are plenty of us hoping to have one someday.

Good thing you're brand neutral. BTW who do you work for?

You must have missed the AT thread...they are #1 now...just ask'em.

fkboatman 09-24-2010 11:48 PM

I looked very closely at the nortech and went with the cig 39 top gun, 700 staggered with nxt boxes and #6 drives. wanted the all out performance and ride.

DEFYN GRAVITY 09-25-2010 12:26 AM

3 Attachment(s)
Available, 85 (mostly) fresh water hours. I believe there is only 11, or 12 38' Powerplays out there

Could be interpreted the same way for a guy that owns two Cigs too! :D

Not sure if your counting the "pulse drive" boat and whether the submarine black one is still considered a viable option. Both would be a "no go" for me.

cowisl 09-25-2010 07:19 AM

Apples to apples, you would have to compare a 38 gun to the boats mentioned(bravo based). The 39 gun with the 700 package is hard to beat and really shouldn't be compared

Ya, ok!

I have driven both. Took the Tres Martin class and the boat was an AT 37. Plus friends have AT's here, and I owned a TG.
The AT's do handle water well and are nice, but they are not a Cig.

A 37 Ol and a 39 Topgun are not even in the same zip code.

Too funny! That thread was posted all in fun, and it was more fun watching you guys get your panties in a wad. :evilb:

How bout our last poker run Bill? Activeshack and I were one of the first five boat to arrive at the first three stops including a very rough run across the Ches Bay to lunch. No Top Guns in sight. :party-smiley-004:

All in fun guys....all in fun. :drink:

No question the Cig tops the OP's original list. :grinser010:

Yup

E Colby 09-25-2010 11:58 AM

If passenger space is a concern, even though it doesn't seem like much, I'm pretty sure the Cig is only 8' wide, where as the OL and Nor-Tech are both at least 8'6".

fubard 09-25-2010 12:06 PM

Its all about the $$$$

Why #6 vs NXT, I know the 6 is stronger curious why you choose it.

The AT's do handle water well and are nice, but they are not a Cig.

They don't cost what Cigs do either. Slightly used AT's are priced at about 2/3 of what the TG's are.

"No Top Guns in sight"

I keep hearing this at every run their is a Active Thunder at.:lolhit:

My comment was in reference to him or them stating they were brand neutral; get over it. :angry-smiley-038:

So are you saying they don't have any resale value?

Are there any AT's that race? I don't recall seeing any out there. Seems odd since they are obviously the best and fastest rough water boat made today.

tony stamis 09-25-2010 07:17 PM

There have been. Where are all the Cigarette race boats since after all it is Cigarette World Championship Racing Team?? After all they have a 1 on the side representing all the championships right??:D

When, where, who?

Cig took first and second in the 2010 Bimini Ocean Challenge Factory V Class...no AT's or OL's in sight.
