Were the cameras on when they jumped overboard?

Old??? I've only had the D300 for a couple years. :lolhit:
It was on, the D200 was not.

You guys aren't gonna get that lucky... :drink:

Kiinda felt like I was surfing as the boat went down and as I pushed away from it the movement caused it to turn over in the water.

Man, that makes you wonder how they don't corrode more just being in the salty air.

VtSteve 02-28-2011 03:44 PM

Jay, you're going to need a bigger boat.

We'll be doing some business soon. You're my favorite photographer, and a lot of other people's as well. Hope you can somehow salvage all of those pictures you nearly drowned to get.

Tried some recovery software and got the same message.
Did a little research and I think somehow the exif data was wiped. There are fixes, but they are time-consuming.
Might be able to do it when I get Bruce's loaner and download from a Nikon camera.

Man, this is heartbreaking-

Jay,

I just found about this unfortunate turn of events from an email from Bob. I can't think of anything helpful to say - it's all been said.

You are welcome to my Canon, if it will do you any good, but it is just a consumer level body (10MP) with a couple of nice (waterproof, IS) lenses that aren't compatible with your Nikon stuff. Still, it is yours if you want to take a walk on the Canon side.

In the meantime, I will be sending you a PayPal gift.
Best Wishes,
J. Jay Forbes

So......we could use the Nikon D300 instead the Mercury stuff on our drives? :D

Thanks again! Steve, Jay, Jim, Jon- everyone... you guys are awesome.

Bruce, I figured a little Krylon, some bondo, couple drops of super glue... :drink:

Thanks for the info, Pete...
somehow, I don't think the Nikon metallurgists were figuring on a 72 hour saltwater submersion.
