dirtymike72 09-28-2011 11:31 PM

last year when I was 23 I bought a '67 24'T-craft then sold it at the end of the summer. This July, after turning 24 I bought a '77 formula 255, and then late august I bought a '79 formula 233 interceptor. I've sold the 255 and the 233 has become my new love.
Now cars, that's a different story. I was 14 when I bought my first one, a 1972 buick skylark which I fixed up and still drive almost every day.

35 Executioner 09-29-2011 07:41 PM

Breaking the seal with my first post ... I though I was a young performance boat owner until I saw the ages of most people on this thread. Congratulations to everyone for owning such great boats at a young age. We just got out of our 24 ft. Supra and bought a 35 ft. Fountain Executioner, our first performance boat and absolutely love it. My wife and I are 33, and up here in the Northeast on Winnipesaukee we are relatively young performance boat owners....this web site has been a great resource for us. It will certainly help me get through the long winter ahead

BINGO! I'm not afraid to work. Also, I have my priorities straight. What I spend on my boat / car addiction is pretty close to what some of my peers spend on trendy clothes, stylish appartments, and weekly bar tabs.

I am fortunate enough to have the space and ability to do all my own work and actually really enjoy it.

I also have a wonderfully supportive wife who enjoys boating as much as I do. BUT... I made sure to accumulate all my toys before I tied the knot ;)

YEP - It's just about prioritizing where you want to spend money.

My wife and I don't go on vacation, don't spend money on unnecessary fancy ****, don't go out to dinner much, and don't every by BRAND new cars - but we boat whenever we want and never think twice about putting fuel in it and enjoying ourselves because that is how we want to spend what we make.

Doing it yourself is also make or break for Young guys....

I hear that! Mine tells me we "NEED" a shower and a generator. We rafted next to a 41 Fastech for a weekend, and afeer she heard them talking about being able to plain even when one motor goes down she has also decided we also need something with tripps so we never have to idle home... :lolhit:

[QUOTE=machloosy;3516635]88242LS, some of these guys are blessed QUOTE]

For us, I think it was a little bit of both; hard work, and blessed. Fiance is a defense contractor for the D.O.D. and I'm in Sales in an industry that hasn't been dramatically effected by the failing economy! We too accumulated all of our toys before we're getting married.....

My only mistake was not getting a cat! First thing she said when we started looking for something to buy was, "I want a Nor-tech or a Skater...." SHES A KEEPER TOO!!!!!:evilb::evilb:

Job - At age 19 my father secured an interview for me with a Class 1 railroad as a laborer. I was hired and for the next year i swung a sledge and drove spikes into rail ties (sucked :angry-smiley-038:). I then transfered to the transportation side of the company and became a locomotive engineer for the next 4 years. After that, i was hired to be a designated supt. of loco. engineers. Now i just took a promotion to K.C. to work in intermodal logistics for my company. Good pay but not much of a home life....

Chris, Congrats on your career.
My grandfather was a 50 year railroader for Southern Pacific. 30 between switchman, brakeman, and engineer, then the last 20 as Passenger Conductor on the Sunset Limited between New Orleans and Los Angeles. You have no idea of how AWESOME our trips with him on the trains were when he took us boys on train trip vacations. First class accommodations and excellent service. From New Orleans to LA, then to Frisco, Seattle to Chicago, then to St. Louis and back to New Orleans and at every station in between everyone knew Newton.
I carry his name as my middle name and hope that one of my kids will pass it on to a Grandson.
I hope you love your job as much as he did, and enjoy equally great vacations with your kids and future Grandkids.
WAY TO GO on landing your job!!!

See ya,
Kelly

Thanks Kelly. Trying to get back down to Houston area so maybe sometime in the future we can meet up and share a drink or two. Sunset Limited was a timeless train such as the Super Chief and Zephyr.
