You are right....and you came to the right decision.

Stop patronizing those in this industry and it all goes away.

Poker runs, hotboat and powerboat. This year when I ran across the powerboat booth I was sad. Where were the girls or the free t-shirts. As I looked over the cabinet like a little boy looking for candy I asked some old guy sitting on a stool, "where's the t-shirts? that's what I'm here for". The guy looks at me with a little tude and says "Those days are over!" Well, I said, So is my subscription. If Powerboat magazine can't swing giving me a t-shirt with my 3 or 5 yr subscription why bother. Teague on tech was the best thing in that book anyway.

Unbelievable.

While comedic at the time I fully understand the ditch that the boating industry is in and I suppport it as much as I can. I'm sorry to all who can't read between the lines and feel the joking nature that the post was written in. And by the way I never felt the t-shirt was free. Nobody gives away anything these days but it's a great promotional tool.

What a moron. This sport doesn't need you or your subscription.

If they don't start spending some money on promotion, projects, more issues etc. then the magazine will fail. Very simple. T-shirts don't cost much and if they get you subscriptions they are well worth the expense. At least stickers for crying out loud and it is free advertising when people put them on their boat or truck. Money needs to be spent on content too. Not just testing boats and covering races. We need prop tests and projects to follow. Teague on tech is a good column but is largely self serving. JMO and intended constructively because I'd hate to see Powerboat go under but unfortunately that is the way they are headed.
