The thing I notice first about most center consoles, is how much the builders love fish, and hate people. The vast majority remind me of why I hate sitting in bleacher seats.

Congrats !! Excellent way to continue to enjoy all of the things you love about life and boating.
Was thinking this was a salt-water craze due to ease of maintanance, etc. but this move suggests it is also about getting more enjoyment per dollar invested. When we all think back our earliest, cheapest, least expensive boats provided us with the greatest amounts of pure joy. |

I turned the key and mothers covered the eyes of their children as I wept because I could hear the cooling stream over the engine. ONE day and it was GONE.
But theres a thread about that ;) |

I love to fish and cruise, the void I see right now is in the 26 - 30 market, most of the CC's in this size are hard core fish boats.
I'm in the market if anyone knows of a great deal! |
I have a 02 Cig
38 ft Top Gun, and a 21 ft Boston Whaler, just up graded the CC. To a new 32 ft Concept with twin 250 Merc, my sons are getting older 24,21 andcwant to go faster !! |
Though not a performance CC I think the Everglades 243 is one of the best designs out there and is put together flawlessly. Boat runs 50+ on a single 300 and has excellent seating/features for a 24.
I like the whole EG line-up but the versatility of the 243 is the best combo for an inshore/all around CC. |
I recently bought a 10 year old 30 Scarab CC, and found I had to pay top dollar for a nice one. I guess that means resale will be good.
|
We offer a 26 ft cc . Two instock one 300 verado and one 350 mag bravo
Tim Ocm |
Just put the Marlago up on the lift. Saltwater location here in Houston (Clear Lake). One hose to the splitter going to flush both engines, hose 'er off, in the car in 7 min.
Bye bye Ya'll!! :cool-smiley-026: |
I love my Proline CC and have had a ton of fun on it, may even do Tickfaw on it this year. I am looking to replace my Scarab with another CC. Have a 1 yr old and want something I can load up and go and not spend allday cleaning.

Yeah -if you want to do more than cruise or go fast, center consoles are nice. But if my son and I want to drop a fishing pole over the side of my '87 Formula 242, there's really nothing stopping us. It's in great shape, but it's an older boat, and it's not that big a deal.
Besides, it's not like I actually need a spot board to clean or store fish. Hell,I never catch anything anyway! :D :D :D |

ARE YOU GETTING RID OF YOUR SUPERBOAT

There are many more comfortable boats around for people that don't fish much, like myself. I believe that the real allure and popularity with the center consoles lies with their outboard power. My boat has snap in carpet, and once pulled out, has a sealed cockpit. Not quite as neat and sprayable as a CC, but not bad.
After reading the many comments here, I'd now have to agree that Matt was spot on in his article. |

How do you like it? Been looking at these to replace my mini go fast.
It is a great layout for what I want, and as far as not being able to hear the motors I'm not so much of an attention whore that I need everyone to look at me.:evilb: |

There would be more choices than just center consoles if more boat makers got out of the "fast out of the hole" concept and went back to more solid deep vee hulls.
Something like this still interests me, whether here in the icebox, or in Florida. http://www.chaparralboats.com/2011/c...d=13&page=home |

I understand but for me I love the sound of big blocks to much.
The other thing is I rarely want a bunch of people in my boat, I am anti social that way.:evilb: |

seems to be alot of switching to CC's going on. my buddy just traded an 05 39 gun for a new Deep Impact w trip Verado's and he loves it
|
Yep, I'm looking to downsize to a 30 -32 CC. Actually want to get back into fishing. Really. :party-smiley-004:
Any CC owners looking to trade up shoot me a PM. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o34093-en.html |
Our CC is our "bread and butter" boat. 50 hours a year on the Cig....and close to 200 hours a year on the CC.
Thanks to Terry Sobo :angry-smiley-038: :D, my wife is in a frantic search for a bigger CC :drink:. It's not EVER going to replace the thrill of a Go-Fast....but it's one hell of a cheap alternative as a secondary boat!! |
I love mine it a 33 avance with 250 mercury s it does all things i like fish offshore and cruse with friends a round the lake and it easy to clean up an looks good to
|
Maybe cause I live up north where it cools off at night, dont fish and love to overnight on the boat I totally dont get it.....on any level.
|
Simple:
Want a boat that a big group of Friends(girls) can all hang together with you? Get a CC. Want a boat that GUARANTEES you can seperate the HOT one from the rest and take off? Get a BAD ASS performance boat. |
I know you can physically fit more people in a CC, but where the heck will they all sit? Most try to hang onto the leaning post, or try not to bounce out of the front seats, assuming they have cushions at all. Except for the very pricey ones, most have somewhat comfortable seating for 3-4
|
I would be honored to own either a 39 nortech CC with half cabin or the Epic 41. I have no problem owning more than one boat, and would use either at any time and still have a stupid grin on my face. :D

When I wrote this commentary and linked to it, I had no idea the topic would catch fire like this. From the industry side, it's been an easy trend to identify, especially in the last 10 years. But hearing straight from current and former performance-based center-console is even more enlightening.
Great discussion and excellent feedback from those who love and don't love center consoles. This is probably sacrilege, but I actually like how quiet today's outboards are. I like that I have to look at the tachs if I can't remember starting them. I know, I know, aversion to loud noises is a function of age. |
