If this trend continues we'll see a 60' Hatteras CC, with full-beam master suite and walk-in shower under the console...
:eek: I admire Joker for building one with a 7' beam. Balls of steel! |

You need to go for a ride in Alec's Nor Tech Doug. One of the fastest accelerating boats I have ever driven. Sucker will toss your azz over the transom if you're not hanging on :).
I suppose if you had a place on the water it would be ok but my boat or any boat that I will ever buy IS my place on the water....is gotta do a lot more than accelerate. |

OK I get it, you don't want a center console. Crist, most women don't bich as much as you do. I'm confused why a guy who doesn't like center consoles has more posts on a center console thread than anyone else. Even The Joker who has a vested interest in CCs does not have as many posts on this thread as you. Give it a rest. What do you think, if too many people buy CCs eliminator will stop making cats?:chill-pill:

Some of you guys don't get it.
If you hate fishing - DON"T FISH. If you hate going fast - BUY A PONTOON BOAT. If you hate outboards - KEEP YOUR EXPENSIVE MAINTAINANCE. If you hate CC'S - BUY A SPORT BOAT If you hate both going fast and fishing - GET A SKI BOAT Or, if you are like me and ate all your veggies your mother gave you and you like and can do everything - GET ONE OF EACH! :coolcowboy: |

So why are outboard so much more reliable?
Ok I know that answer, why doesn't Merc spend the money to design a modern I/O? We may need a different thread for that one. |

I'm looking at CC's, you can't beat the open-ness and utilitiy of one. Makes it much easier cruising with a larger group of friends and just running around. |

The perception that outboards are more dependable is just that, a perception. We had a number of guys in our club who had souped up their outboards to gain more HP and they tended to break down like a souped up stern drive. If the outboards are left stock, they are super dependable, but so are Mercury stock engines and drives. It is when pushed beyond normal performance that anything can grenade, including outboards.

No to mention cutting down on weight. The new 4 strokes are getting lighter. I'd rather have my weight in the hull, not the engines. The day I start towing a boat if I ever get to Florida, it will be with an outboard.
That's where a CC outboard would pay real dividends, in salt water. |

It is no perception, it is fact. Outboards are more dependable primarily in the saltwater environment. In fresh water my inboard engines are reliable too. The close fitting cowling and the oily 2 strokes make for a huge anti corrosion advantage in saltwater. I think the 4 strokes keep the close fitting cowling advantage but lose the overall oiliness of the 2 stroke. I have run both types of engines for many years off and on or at the same time and I have never had corrosion on my outboards anywhere close to that of "car engines" adapted for marine use, in saltwater.

In a nut shell... YES..
what about a 33 foot cat with a beautiful North Carolina flair and 10'- beam fishing/poker run boat, twin 350's that is about 70+ plus mph..would that sell in this market place.. |

Most CCs are used as a sporty alternative to a deckboat/pontoon boat and not for fishing.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/a...bimini-034.jpg Most CCs based off sportboat hulls arent actually liked by real fishing guys, too narrow and too tipsy . When I lived in Palm Beach I would go a lot of sundays to hang out on the intercoastal and it was a constant parade of CCs most the day and not a single fishing rod on any of them.. |
