I have read through this post and have kept up to date on this and here are my thoughts on it. This is by no means a ding or approval for the Op or the dealer shrogren.
After reading this whole thread I find it kind of confusing of what the Op wants out of this but at the same time feel for him. Whenever you buy a peice of machinery this goes to show you have to be careful of what your buying and from who regardless of pvt sale or a dealer/broker. Ive had my own issues and seems a dealer or pvt seller have the potential to hose you over whether it be on purpose or not.
If you buy a boat its yours once it leaves the lot and in this situation it's hard to say what happened in this two period. But at the same time if you buy something from a dealer specially something that is this high of caliber you expect it to work and not break in the first month or so. To me whether its new or used the dealer has the responsibility to send a boat out thats free of known defects and will work for a considerable amount of time under normal operating conditions and no abuse .
I dont know what has been offered and talked about between these two parties but to me the right thing to do would be shrogren repairs the boat or takes the boat back and issues a boat at similar value. I dont think its shrogrens job to give a full reimbursement. Shrogren took the boat and sold thus its their liability to whether they knew the history or not to sell a correct boat that they advertised.
As for the buyer I don't think there is anything legally you can do because it seems shrogren was honest with the history. But they do owe you a good boat. I would file a BBB complaint first and if no correction comes from that file a complaint with your states Attorney general.

Yup good luck. I feel your pain I bought a fountain not at the exspense you did but found 4 grand in damage after I took possesion of it. Wel I was deployed overseas when I bought it and boat sat for 6 months with two covers on it. Well I came home to find a boat with half of the cabin rotted out. Broker claimed that it did that damage in 6 months, I didnt think so either does the repairman. Use the BBB you might never get out of it what you want but be reasonable when you file its all on line and takes 10mins. Either way it will be a stain on their record if they dont offer anything. But if somebody is willing to hose a combat vet they will not hestiate to hose you either
