Fastest Single In Toms River, NJ Area?

Whats up OSO, I picked up a clean 27' Fountain single, no step bottom, in the fall of last year. I am currently having a fresh custom 510ci N.A. motor being built at Bandit Performance Marine (Formerly Kurt's Marine) on Mantoloking Rd. in Brick, NJ. I cant say enough times how helpful, friendly and informative they have been. Not sure of the H.P. until im on the dyno but im crossing my fingers for 90MPH. Looking for a quick race just for fun or a small wager. I will accept fair twin engine competition also. Im usually blasting around the bay in between the Seaside and Mantoloking bridges. Thanks guys, The Instagator.

Personally, I think you're going to find that the 27' Fountain doesn't like a ton of power. (And I work for a Fountain dealer.) The 29' is actually a much faster hull with the same power. Add to that the fact that you have the older non-stepped version and you're starting in something of a hole. The 27' is a real handfull with big power.

As for what kind of power you're going to need to hit mid-90's with that hull, you're certainly talking more than enough power to blow your Bravo right off the transom as others have said.

Finally, there are some pretty quick hulls out there - although maybe not right in your area. For instance, I know one of our members (Laster) has a Whipple Charged 502 in a 24' Progression that's running a legitimate 95 MPH.

So yes, you'll probably be fast, but not the fastest and you're going to have your hands full. Be careful.

I know a certain 30' Superboat running an 800hp Ron Potter that lives around the corner from you.....
Wish I still had my 29' Kryptonite!

Joking aside, please be careful, that hull is a handful above 85mph.

I have a 27 Baja Boss with 509 m3 procharger, very simlar to your fountain. over 85 mph and the stearn wants to dance around. I had to put Imco dual steering on the boat just to tame it down. wear your lanyard and don't *uck up because at 90+ things happen fast. My 29 Fountain Fever is very well mannered, with the stepped hull its smoother and way better handleing. Good Luck

Triple Digits is the first thing that popped into my mind, too. If you have not found him...maybe he will find you.

If he's still around. Any sightings?
