This is from the rulebook:

5.8.1.3.3 CAM: Any hydraulic roller cam with a maximum intake
lift of .610 inch and exhaust lift of .632 inch measured
at the valve with zero lash is the only cam allowed, with an OEM
stock gear timing chain, no belt driven timing chain
systems are allowed. Variable cam timing not allowed.


It must have been some performance gain to justify the risk.

Not knowing the rules for the engines, I would think a bit more was out of the range than just a cam and lifters ? Saying this as they always seemed to be way ahead of everyone else in the class all the time

They need to measure the cylinder heads next.
