Yes, my 440 shows depths and clearly shows where the channels are. Has been worth its weigth in gold when we've taken trips out of town.
If you have a West Marine close to you I would go in and play with a few models and see how you like them. That way you know for sure what you're getting.

Second thing is once you buy maps they are outdated the second you buy them because the water is always changing, so in reality you should get new maps every year. I would bet if you bought a 2011 map it probably data from 2010 anyways so you are already a year behind.
