Lake Powell???
With all the crazy weather, is Lake Powell filling up? I want to make it there someday, but always read about it drying up...Is it getting water back in it?
|
Check this site out.
http://snowpack.water-data.com/upper...ackgraphic.php in answer to your question, yes it is filling up. As bad as it has been these past few years...Lake Powell is actually doing what it was designed for. Keeping the southwest alive. |

The snowpack is at near 190% in the mountians here. If the weather breaks and gets hot our run off will be interesting. And that runs right into Powell. It has been unseasonably cool and wet lately, which has slowed the run off.

Powell would be full this year. They will be releasing 13 million arce ft of water into Mead instead the required 9 million. Lake Mead is 130 ft below full pool. In the newspaper it showed it will be going up 30+ ft this year.

Thanks for the info...seems like if i get there in the next couple of years it'll still be there:drink:
I want to take my boat from st louis to powell and spend a week. |
powell has over 2000 miles of shoreline. It has plenty of water to float your boat!

I hope so because in two weeks this puppy is going to a new home there.

This is going to be a great year for going to powell. i haven't seen it full in a long time. It is nice because when it is full there is better access to alot of things you wouldn't see with a lower water level. Bad part is that all the crap and trash that people have left on the shore will be washed in to the lake.

What's the current status of Lake Powell? Good year to drag a boat there? The graph doesn't look promising.
