Are you sure? It looks pretty secure to me. My neighbor has a similar bungee cord holding the hood down on his 86 Caprice Classic, and it works pretty good..

I could care less about the scratches on the deck. I was more worried about my teeth and skull when it lets loose and flys down the deck through the windshield. :eek:

Ok, I agree about the bungee cord. What about a more secure way to hold it down out there. Maybe a custom fit latch and pin setup. I avoid anchoring because I hate to carry it across my bow and I don't have a windshield to crawl over.

Just toss anchor from the cockpit and have someone walk out on the deck and tie it up. Crawling over a windshield is the worst thing.

Thats exactly how I do it. I drop the anchor over the side, then hand it to someone who has already walked up to the front of the boat. Beautiful part about a Velocity, there is a nice flat surface on each side to walk up to the front without having to step over the windshiled. Then when we leave, pretty much the opposite. Someone on the bow walks the anchor line back to me, then I pull it up from the swim platform, rinse it off and put it away.

Don't have to worry about the bow getting all dirty with seaweed and mud, scratched, or getting having the anchor dropped through the hatch or windshield.

I use bungee cords for anchor lines, dock lines, tie downs for the boat while on the trailer, and to attach my child's car seat to my motorcycle. We even connected 12 of them together to towed in my friends Bayliner over the weekend.
