The boat is badass. I've been on it at LOTO, it eats rough water up!

This is the "Last Mohican". I'd like to get this thing rigged up with some nice rc motors. Anyone have experience with rigging one of these? It was real nice of Mitch to create a replica paint job on this for me.

Went right from Mitch to me so it turned out nice!

Let's hear about the boat buyer lined by from the mid-west with no credit or money but he was going to buy one for less than cost! Good deal for him! :evilb:

Ive never ridden in the boat. If all that is needed is interior work that isn't too bad....put all the build history behind it I bet it is a great boat.

Sad to see the heartache with such a gorgeous boat. I'm thinking that's the ultimate great lakes gofast for someone with a lotta green!!!

I do not think it is as much Chief bashing as it is calling out the owners who did Mike dirty almost from the beginning

I sold Mike the boat as I was in charge of sales when the company started One of the ideas that S. Grady had come up with (was a good one had he been able to live up to it) was to enter the boat in 5 poker runs across the country and pay for all of the transportation and entry fees for the boat so Mike just had to fly in to the event and go boating then go home. It was one of the things that interested Mike in being the first owner of the First (and Last) Mohican
Delivery of the boat missed ALL the promised events and the idea never happened once he got the boat many things I ultimately promised Mike through the Grady's direction never happened and I was watching many things come apart. I had a few more customers waiting for Mikes boat to be completed so they could go for a ride, and order a Chief themselves. Part way through the First Mohican debacle Scott G came to me and said "we need to get that second hull sold" indicating he needed the money. (This was after Mike had given us hundreds of thousands of dollars in deposit money) I told Scott i was not pushing to sell the next hull until Mikes boat was done because we were not living up to our promises to Mike and I was not closing another sale without Mikes boat delivered. Soon after it was evident the lies and deception that was going on so I backed away from the company They were not even keeping there commitments to me regarding my pay it was time to distance myself. I spent the next almost year working with Mike to get his boat after i was gone from the so called company. We enlisted Brett (DHLAW on this site) to help and Brett was instrumental in helping us make the final deal come down. even that was ugly at best

Mike and I were talking last night and figured it took him almost 2 years to get the boat We have not even scratched the surface by sharing the dirty dealings that were going on behind the scenes and the lies I was told as well as Mike was told as we were trying to get the boat completed
Mike was the guy that had stepped up with hundreds of thousands of dollars to get this boat built and the owners were making promises that they had no intention on keeping to me or to the customer (Mike)
It was not the boats fault, although it was a mess when Mike received it because they had used it for a pace boat at a boat race and had been running it in salt water and not cleaning it proper when taking it out (see pictures from first page) The boat already had many hours on it before mike got it. The blame lay's squarely on the owners, and maybe a bit on me for talking Mike into buying the boat in the first place. WE were both sold a bill of goods. The process was fun being part of something new, but soon it became a nightmare one that ultimately cost Mike the loss of a lot of money to go through this experience

Again, i too would like to own the Hull and just gutt out the cockpit and interior. I would redo the cockpit and make the interior a cover girl style
the value is in the paint, the power, the drives, and the hull bottom.

The first Mohican- You seen one You seen em all :)

I wonder if I should add my spin on this as well Marc?? Look at the end of the day I would accept all of the assets of the company and bring Marc and Bobby back into the deal fix the bottom and go back into the manufacture of this boat it truly was a great vision when it was master minded which I was involved in but at the end of the day money or the lack there of was what destroyed this whole deal!!!:food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007::food-smiley-007:

Man, I wish I had money troubles and didn't buy that boat!

Hands down, the worst transaction I've ever had. I will be forever indebted to DHLAW who helped me get my hands on it and never charged me a dime. By the time I got the boat, my life had moved on and I was flying to Europe every week but still managed to use it on some weekends and even made it to a couple of poker runs.

You can see lots of threads on here that detail the ugliness of the whole thing, so there's no sense in rehashing it. It does make for one hell of a story, wouldn't you agree Boatme and Bobby?

I decided to get rid of it when the cops here in Grand Haven became real jerks giving me tickets for noise and having to go to court. Spent about 5k trying to muffle it, but it still wouldn't pass their test. It sucked when you're only home on the weekends and cops force you to take the boat out of the water. This used to be one of the great places for offshore boats, but now you rarely see one.

I don't know how many owners there have been after me.

Thanks for the kind words. I think all of our lives have kinda moved on. I have always done everything I can to help fellow OSO members when able. I hope that all is well with you.

I would guess in the nintys as the formerly known NuTec
just the hull and deck.

The rear engine hatch was a new concept and designed by Bobbie, Mike,(Original owner) and myself with much imput by many others that were involved

By the way this has been explained before

Most everything else was unique to Chief, all components new but the hull and deck were pulled many years prior for Nutec

Mike knew the hulls history when he bought the boat . He knew that it had been pulled from the mold and then sat in storage untill Chief put it all together. Not sure why this is relevant and keeps coming up but there you have it

No offense ever intended to any reputable builder, I have nothing but respect for those that do it "right".

I must have missed the parts about them in this thread,....still in shock from all I have read about this full bird cluster frack.

BUT, hopefully they have a sense of humor too, it was only intended as a light hearted joke in the context of 85% of this thread!!

The real builder of the boat is a very reputable gentleman. The whole problem was you had an under-capitalized company trying to be bigger than it was. First snafu that came along and they were out of money. I can only imagine that it was hard to build it right if there was no money to do so.

The major thing I have with the whole deal was that they never owned up to their issues or problems. It was always some wild story about how this company was delaying them or how that company couldn't deliver. I have hundreds of emails from the guys and I actually was reading through them today. I'm saving it for a book when I get old and need something to do over the winter.

If they would have been up front with me I would have worked with them. After all, what's the cost of capital on about 300k over 2 years? I would have brought some extra cash to the table to get it done instead of losing 2 years of boating. We could have come to some agreement for exchange in stock or sale of a next boat.

Instead, they chose the road of deception and killed it for everyone.

Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of meeting you but you seem to be one hell of a stand up guy!!! I really feel your pain because I have worn the black marks from the owners long enough and at the end of the day like I said before money or the lack of is what destroyed Chief Powerboats all the lies and deceptions were just icing on the cake!!!! It would be an honor to meet you sometime and have a cocktail together!!!

I wasn't slamming you bud I just was making the fact known that the boat was built by a reputable builder sorry if the way I chose my words wasn't the best way to convey that fact!!!
