G-NOTE 09-29-2011 04:51 PM

Looking at 30' ...

Well I had to sell my 33' last year due to financial problems, and have been running a baja hammer this summer that I picked up for a reasonable price.

NOW, I am ready for something around 28'-32' with a single engine, preferably a stepped hull...

I have been looking at the 288 Sunsation intimidator, the Magic Wizard, and Kachina Drone 30'.

After owning a Baja 33' , I loved the boat, but was getting smoked by everything. I am looking for speed 75+, but I would like a STABLE ride since I will be boating with my family.

The price range I would like to stay is $25-$45K, nothing older than 95'....

Any help would be appreciated!:coolcowboy:

You need twins in that range if you don't want to get smoked.

My boats for sale, but not sure if it will be up to your pedigree standards. :party-smiley-004:

Geno! How you doing buddy, glad you didn't get out of the game. I'm going to have some fun shopping for you.

I have a 2001 28' Warlock former F1 race boat for 35K. it runs 82 mph with the HP500 that is in it now. you would have to pull the cockpit cover and put a back seat in it for the family but other than that it is turn key and runs great.

I know baja's don't carry any clout around here, but I'm only 33 so I got plenty of time to move into the finer things...

Why not the Yellow 29' Kryptonite in the classifieds? Boat is in great shape, has a cabin, and will run in the 90's whenever you want it to. As far as the 30' or less boats run, you shouldnt get beat too often in that.:drink:

If your boat came down to his price range I don't think you would be the owner much longer..........

If he came up to my price range it would have the same effect! :coolcowboy:

How is that thing in Big water, since I didn't see bolsters...

Also does it have closed loop cooling?

Nice boat, but I'm not a fan of mid cabins...

Thanks though!:drink:

Kryptonite no question, i want one

Dave M 10-01-2011 09:21 AM

Take a look at the 30 Superboat.

Close to 32' LOA, upper 70's w/500HP, great in rough water, decent space in cockpit and cabin. Most are well equipped from the factory, k-planes, steering, etc.

One just recently sold in your price range.

Thats a good looking boat, but don't bolsters do better to run offshore?

The seats in the Superboat are very comfortable in rough water.

Personal preference I guess. I prefer a sit-down boat. Seems like a lot of race boats these days are sit-down.

BajaBennett 10-03-2011 08:20 AM

Check out my Baja 302

You might want to check out my 302 in the classifieds. It might just be what you are looking for and I know you will not find anything as well equipped and well maintained. Give me a call and we can talk about it (321) 536-0511. Check this link:

I appreciate the response, but all I have ever owned is Baja. Nothing wrong with them, excellent ride, handling, comfort, but I am looking to get into something different.

What do you guys think about a Donzi 28ZX Scorpion ???

+1
The Y2K will surprise you with how it runs and is as comfortable as my 311 Formula was when it gets rough, I actually run the SB faster than I did the Formula.

John @ Superboat has a 30Y2K available for a great deal. It was built in '07 but never finished or delivered. The buyer ran into finantial problems. The boat has got a ton of upgrades and can bought right.

Hey Kurt how have you been? I noticed in your avatar it says t/s Mystique did you buy Pauls boat. If so congratulations. Glad it stayed local. I talked to him this past winter but it wasn't in the cards for me.

Hi Kirk, Thanks, yes, I bought Pauls Mystique last Monday. I've wanted that boat since I saw it new at Lip Ship! Too bad the season is over, hope to get one more weekend to play.:drink:

I don't know that particular boat. But, a close friend has a 29 Profile. It's a BIG boat for a single. Takes a lot of power to get it moving. The only other thing I can say is do your homework before buying. Profile has had a lot of bad press.

TeamSaris 10-04-2011 08:32 PM

Kryptonite, best running boat in its class for a balance of rough water and speed

Man.... Your heading in the wrong direction.

G-NOTE 10-05-2011 07:33 AM

I am a BIG guy (6'1" 350lbs)I really want something with bolsters, I have NEVER felt comfortable in seats...

I like the Kryptonite, sleek looking and fast, but it just seems like a shallow sided hull, no way could you put bolsters in there.

There have been a couple kryptos with bolsters, but it doesnt really work out well IMO. it is a fairly low boat that is designed to be a sit down boat. If you stand up half your body is in the wind, it isnt very comfortable.

I dont think I could ever own a stand up boat, it is much nicer to sit down, better ride and feels much more secure in rough water.

Bolsters mean tall boat which means less speed. Try out a kryptonite with tall race like seats and it's great. I have a sit down warlock and I will never go back to bolsters.
If you want bolsters in that size range it takes out the fastest of boats.
A fountain 33 is really a 30 and they are pretty cheap. I think kachina has one but they are 70mph boats like the Fountain. Not dogging them but that's what all that freeboard does plus they usually have a big useless cabin.

I've never liked the top deck of a Velocity, the way it swoops to meet the winsheild.

Ok, I know the owner, he wants to get it moved and it's solid. Made me think of this thread, I'll keep looking. :coolcowboy:
