.

Interesting perspective.......Ben was certainly a well funded force in Offshore Racing. All illegal of course. Speculation is entertaining & uncertain. Status Quo for Apache Powerboats is no steps.

I reckon no passenger likes even those speeds, at least I haven't found any. Eric has got his Yellow warpath running good also with basically finetuning. More cubic inches and props basically, and I love the setup and the statement it makes at 106+ (?). Who needs more in ultimate bragging rights as the sea will always slow everyone down to 80's or less, even OL43's ? But gotta give credit to them as we speak despite being a fan of old school looks.

I agree with this 100%.....Amen

I agree wholeheartedly, having run the Gun against both Predator and TKO in P-2 and P-3.......each of us above the century mark very capably........and knowing what our riggs can handle,.......while not in race conditions, and with other passengers.......no real need to run at the top end in anything over 4-6 footers.........for pleasure and with others who aren't racers and in safety gear.........anyone that says otherwise, ...well

I appreciate the old tech and the new, but something about this is just right. When I think offshore, this is the image in my mind. This thing sounds perfect and looks great gettin 'er done.

They were until the big stuff where Bob Saccenti suffered a major head injury. However, "Ben's company", Apache, was all about competing and winning so I think they would have kept advancing with technology just as everyone else did and not remain the status quo.

IMO would be cool to see a Apache hull with 2-3 steps and see how it performs, as it has already rocker in the bottom it should be a no-brainer regarding results. IMO Classic hull lines and new bottoms would be killer in these days for the Old school Fans wanting new.

There already is, the 42' Chief. It's an Apache with steps. The steps are not aggressive but comperably speaking the boat is 10 mph faster than a 41' Apache "pleasure" model with similar power. :drink:

Apache Powerboats......
Are any faster in small water? Probably most of them!
Are any faster in rough seas? Probably none of them!
Don Aronow's best design.........Ben Kramer got a winner!

You know the rest.....
