. Kind of counter-intuitive wouldn't you think? Cannot believe all this drivel over Mike Aronow's choice of boats/paint schemes. Some of you won't sleep for months!

im not sure what is so confusing about this.... im a big of a cigarette fan as they come, but lets face it OL is making the best built, fastest boat out there right now.. it was don a, then reggie f, now mike f, and mike f is producing a better V bottom boat then don or reggie could have ever dreamed of.... period

If your gonna try and honor an inivator it would be nice to see some innovation in his signature series.

Something must be wrong Ol is is making an Arronow and the other boat company Firisni or something like that bought the old Arronow Mold and is remaking the Arronow. The economy is rough out there some one needs money.

All true , but wouldn't you think o.l. would want to write their own history? Not buy it? $$$ ?? Assuming it cost money for the name?? and on top of that its just a cheesy paint job.

This whole thing was a neat idea and a nice gesture..but in retrospect it really doesn't make any sense any more.
Let's face it, the majority of (if not all) die hard Don Aronow fans would at a minimum want a boat that had his name on he side to actually be one of his, or at least an evolution of one of his boats.
Honestly if I had the extra cash to buy a new OL...it would be because I wanted an OL...and if anything I would want their cool logo splashed on it. That way every time I blew by someone in that bad a$$ sucker...there would be no confusion what just blew their hatches off :-)
As I said, a nice gesture...but I think even Mr. Aronow himself would be scratching his head after thinking about this whole situation....unless they at least change the graphics to "Don Aronow Memorial Long Island Marathon Edition" etc. Then it would make more sense.
Funny story, and sort of related. Back in 2005 I had one of the custom "Tonka Truck" type Special Edition Ford F-150 "FTX"trucks...it had flares and all sorts of add on junk (what was I thinking).....the Ford Oval Logos on the front Grille and tailgate were changed to "FTX" Blue Oval Logos instead of "Ford" Blue Oval logos...everywhere I went the general public loved the truck but continually asked me what brand truck it was, just from changing those 2 logos they weren't sure if it was a Ford or a Chevy or heck some even thought it might be a new Toyota(grrr).....YET...all the while the "F-150" logos were still there on the sides of the fenders and even on the bull bar....

You would think anyone would still recognize that as a Ford, right?
Logos and graphics can usually always make a big statement..but sometimes even the smallest thing can confuse people's perception of the "Brand" of the truck, car or boat.
Not sure if that is what OL want's or not, after all, it's their choice, their boat and their brand.
Regardless, they build one heck of a boat, I would be proud to own one...but mine would darn sure say OUTERLIMITS on the side (probably down the whole darn side :-).
BTW, that new MF that spoke Carroll Shelby's name in "vain"...I'm watching you.......you a bad bad man!! :-)
Cheers,
Dave

Getting past the turn-off of the internet bickering, I do think it's a bit strange with the union of OL and DA. Fully agree with the Long Island themed boat idea though, love it actually.

No one on either side has put down the quality of Mike's product, in fact just the opposite.
OL should take it as a compliment that people around here think enough about them and the path they take that they actually voice their opinion.
This is just the reaction you get when you are on the top of the list of boatbuilders.
If no one reacted they wouldnt give a shiit.

If o.l. Is trying to carry some steam off the long island marathon record breaker why not offer buyers a ” long island edition ” and do more than slap a ” 1” on the hull.
How about the ” long island edition ” comes with larger tanks than a standard 43, making it purpose built for marathon racing.
How about the ” long island edition ” comes with larger tanks than a standard 43, making it purpose built for marathon racing.
Pardon me but when did this "race" around Long Island suddenly become the standardbearer for offshore excellence. Seems from what Ive read there hasnt been many run over the past 50 years, some of the winners would hardly be considered the elite of offshore and last years winner ran a 30Sonic with Alpha's
How about Ol spend twenty years winning offshore races before they claim vbottom superiority and throw a 1 on the side.
When is Soncis Alpha Edition Long Island Boat coming out?
NK
PS No disrespect to this years winner or last. Congrats

have a nice day, thanks Bye!
