After what fact ???????????? If the thing is rated and pressure tested, it is a sealed unit ! NOT a Goldfish bowl , Hell Maybe one day I will learn enough to design and build a race boat to put it in.

Facts are synonymous w/the model and simulation (see post 247). Taking all degrees and angles into account, isn't a goldfish bowl stronger than an egg? Having a very high pressure area between an outer and inner "shell" could produce a "reactive" effect as well as define a buffer zone between rigid and deforming materials.

Dude put the pipe down, go play with your parachute, training wheels and feed your fish.

Yes; this thread morphed into a building competition for an M1A2 turret. Moreover; I am sure the intent of all is similar. Happy holidays and a safe 2012!
"...Fully developed by either the teams or the International Boat racing association this safety tool can really contribute in saving lives and money.... Additional safety measures in a already very risky sport are always welcomed......"

I'm not sure I understand how a check valve (non return valve) would work to help bringing air in to the cockpit but keeping water out?
Other solutions could be a roll over valve similar to the ones that are in car fuel tanks. Or just a "J" shaped ventilation tube going from the roof of the cockpit to the floor.
Lighthouse have a valid point. The natural solution is to build a thick shell that can handle the forces. But why not investigate other solutions also?

The window is close to 3/8" (9 mm) polycarbonate.
