How the heck can they publish long enough to sell a bunch of subscriptions and then cease publication? I was supposed to be the recipient of a gift subscription.

From Matt's article in speedonthewater.
quote"“The current subscribers to Powerboat magazine will be transferred to our Boating publication.” from the VP.
Total BS. I too had a gift certificate. No, I don't want you to TRANSFER my subscription to Boating. WTF!!!!
My GF wants her money back. Good luck with that.
And yes to the poster that mentioned the Extreme asswipes.
I should have know better then let her buy me a gift certificate after taking it in the wallet from them.

From: Denmark and hopefully some place nice
Matt, I know you have to keep a somewhat objective mindset when writing these articles, so please don't answer if you don't want to. Just curious.
What is your take on what is going on with Bonnier and Powerboat mag? I mean, why acquire PB and then shortly after suspend it? Lots of thoughts here. Remove the competition (PB vs. Boating and maybe the other Bonnier owned boating related mags), bad investment, no real interest in the mag ect. ect. ect. Just the fact that they don't pay the PB subscribers back, and just transfer us over to Boating. I find that to be a very wrong and dishonest way to conduct business, and hi-jack customers to pay for something they did not want. This thing smells a bit like yesterdays diapers.

As for my immediate take? I'm couldn't be more baffled by the entire chain of events.
Look for a commentary, as always clearly labeled as such, on Friday.
