Whipple Upgrade for 525efi
#11
Ok I'm an !diot, I read the op got it as a question regarding the calibration of an sc setup. Have no exparience with the ecu upgrades other than on 496's. Works fine, but not a lot of top end improvement. Don't know if the same will be the case on the 525EFI. On the 496's a thermostat change is needed.

Too rich or just some built in leeway? I wouldn't do this and then have to buy 91 octane which can be hard to find at the gas docks. And it is only about 25-30 hp and 1-3 mph, probably about 1 mph for most of us. It might be a neat trick for sealed 525 racers, if legal, but doesn't sound good for a recreational boat. I will pass on it and recommend that you do too.
Now the whipple kit is intriguing but I'll have to wait until my money tree sprouts another 20-30 grand.

The 2004's were. There was a reprogram on later models to get rid of a transom sooting issue.

This is more the a fuel map change though
