I think a lot of the bad press from any boat manufacture can come from the new boat dealer. Outerlimits had some problems with distributers we all know the names. People as press always look to kick the guy on top i guess Mike has gotten a lot of compliments.

All depends what you are looking for. I like quality, fit and finish, so I would be a fool not to go with Cig. Maybe not the fastest, but better rigged and better built would be hard to do.

NOBODY on this site hates Outerlimits. Unless the company has done you wrong in the past, theres no reason to hate them.....Although it has gotten better, its the arrogant posting that gives folks a bad taste about the brand.

Why translate that to the brand? The quality, innovation, and technology of the boats has nothing to do with people cheering or ragging on the boat. As far as I can tell, OL is at the forefront of boatbuilding these days.

Plain and simple, people are jealous and it puts a hair across a cig owners a$$ because OL is now what Cig used to be...................

Cigarette = Bear Stearns

Outerlimits = JP Morgan Chase

I agree with you on the translating part, but thats what seems to be happening.

OL is obviously one of the better boats out there, but it seems to me that they sometimes should keep their mouths shut and let the boat do the talking. Also, I think they stepped on their own d!ck when they introduced the "Aronow" special or what ever it was called. That seemed to not only pizz some folks off, but also made them look like they were trying to cash in on a history that they played no part in. Regardless of what The Dons son says or supports, The Don was put to sleep when Mike F was still watching Scooby Doo and the two are completely unrelated.

With all of that said, I myself would be proud to own one as they are really nice.

Now, that is funny. Ol has a long way to go before they can achieve that. And, I am neither jealous nor hateful to Ol. I give credit to Mike for his epoxy boats and hull technology and truly think that he has created some of the coolest looking boats out there.He is definitely ahead of the competition in certain areas. However, that does not translate to being the best boat or the ultimate performance boat. Plus, I think that some of OL's PR people,from the past have boasted things that are just not true and that has been disappointing. Anyhow I wish them well with their 29 and look forward to seeing what else they can bring to the table. And when Skip finally buys Mike out, we just might have the ultimate boat. :D

They have a lot of the color orange in OL boats. Maybe folks are tired of orange? :D

I love how the people that do the most talking tend to not own any of these boats.

You just dont't get it. The OL pleaure boats are great in my opinion, but the people that are constantly telling me they are great is the issue for most of us on OSO. Or not living up to expectations once the boat is built ie after being touted as the greatest, fastest, best handling ever, the World Champion race boats, or the best cat ever built...it gets old real quick. I just don't buy the bullsh*t, it gets annoying.

In am not jealous, nor do I hate. If I could own a SV43, I would consider buying it, or maybe a Skater, Statement, or Phantom (I like Will Smith).

It is not the boat, but the blind loyalty to the OL brand and arrogance associated with OL supporters is the issue. The OL boat is not an issue, that is the good part.

You cant even compare an OL and a Cig. An outerlimits has a useable cabin with bed, toilet, etc, so it can be considered a pleasure boat. Since 2000 a Cig has, at best a half cabin which has worse accomodations than the porto potti on my job site. When Cig builds a 42X with a FULL cabin (shower, ac, bed, etc...) that runs with a 42OL, I will eat my words. It boils down to the simple fact that the TS Cig design is now over a decade old and every year outerlimits is changing and modifying their bottom design for the better

So how much does OL count the overhang in the LOA?:helmet:
