So...... I got to ask. What is Checkmate's expected production for this hull ? Is it 1, 3, 5, 10 a year ?

Yup, they bought their splash instead of leasing it.

LOL! Well said! Too bad the Jazzy paint won't help it run loose & skip over the top of the water. Oh well, what can you do? The bottom of the powerboat is the most important feature. In Chief's case it's a dud.

Then why not rip Pantera on the 24 for being "borrowed"?? Or any of the other dozen or so mfg's that popped that hull??
All those 24x7 boats came from an original Magnum from what i have come to believe?? Or has it been long enough at this point thats its just time forgotten? Then the question becomes how long does one have to wait till it's OK to build a boat with "Old roots"??

Point is there are very few "originals" out there...they all came from some other boat that was tweaked into what we see today....Coyote into Sonic......Excalibur into Fountain....etc etc..

It is not something done today, with the knowledge of vee bottom design and the CNC ability that is commonplace, plus the LAW ,One boat show years back there were 15 variants of the old 23 formula did that make it right?but in this case we have a 41 Apache and that is owned by a guy on our West Coast here. ,

Oh, so taking measurements and replicating a design and tweaking it isn't a splash. You're really full of it. You created the "new apache" duh..

We all remember the thread and your separation from the project at the end.

And i totally agree with you.....but not every company can dump a mill on a plug/mold with the latest and greatest design/technology.....and then only to never actually have it hit the water, then be sold by the bank and another boat company is there lucky enough to snatch it up at what i'm sure was an awesome price for them!

And if the guy that owns the 41 felt that it was an infringement on his model/design etc....wouldn't it be in his best interest to at the very least have his lawyer write up a cease and desist letter and have it sent to whom ever the owners of the molds are???

When it comes down to it, a vee bottom is a vee bottom and a cat is a cat...unless you have something very special in your design, like what you did with the Thad project, then it just another mouse trap that some one is trying to improve upon...

Two boat manufacturers come out with a new product (OL & Checkmate) and both intro threads are filled with dooche bags being negative rather than applauding the fact that this is a good thing for this dying industry. Pathetic.

Checkmate has never been my bag but I applaud the effort and the boat looks great.
