Cool. So let's say you start an Apache thread. Would it be ok with you if Checkmate guys came in and started talking about THEIR boats?

Sean, Doug Smith, the man that started Baja now owns Checkmate. The original Checkmate founder's sons still work at the company (Mike and Kip Combs). Ironically, Doug Smith started Baja by buying retired Checkmate molds!! When he purchased Checkmate, he added a few of Baja's molds/models to Checkmate's lineup to capture a broader market for sales. These models are the ZT350, ZT 275, ZT244 and SFX 250. They are easy to recognize as rebadged Bajas by their rounder look as opposed to Checkmate's more aggressive traditional offshore boats but they are now built using Checkmates superior standards of fully endgrain balsa coring both the topdecks and hulls with more modern lamination schedules. Both Checkmate and the original Baja factory (now closed) are located in Bucyrus, OH.
Thanks bro....I knew Doug Smith took the reigns at Checkmate!!!! Anyway one of the old Checkmate raceboats is siting down the road from me at the upholstery shop!!!!

Absolutely!
Why the hell not, if it in some way related to what had been posted.
I don't think any of the Checkmate posts was not on the subject of the Checkmate 43. Most were about where it came from. About it's lineage.
What's wrong with that?
It's a bit like if Cigarette owners came on a thread about Apache, and said that it was really nothing more than a splash and stretch of a Cigarette 38.
Well, that's just what it is.
So what? Why take offense.

Apache Pete, I think what he was referring to was posts that were off topic or promoting other brands. It's great to know the history of the molds but to take the original posters thread off topic, push other products or bad mouth a project in the works is frustrating to the original poster, the readers trying to enjoy the thread and the administrators. Not to mention it always seems to be the same guys screwing with threads no matter what the topic may be.....
