Hello All

I am still very involved with the Chief Powerboat project.. I have all the molds ready to go. Just pick your colors and power.. Hopefully the economy will turnaround and boating as we all know it will start to come back. In the meantime I been keeping busy (so I don’t forget how to put theses dame things together) for a few old Apache clients, mainly total restoration projects. I enjoy a good challenging project from start to finish.

I see a OSO poster mentioned that somebody was using my name “without my permission”. I will assure you that will never ever happen.. Yes I was involved with a business venture that did not get very far, due to me being geographically in the wrong location.. The company has since been resolved and Adam who is a fried and one talented individual has moved onto his own venture.

I am always available for any questions;

Pete I am going to quote you so don't feel like I am singling you out but you are the best comparison!!!!

ApachePete used to own Allez Vite and it had Merc 1000's in it and I personally saw it run over 100.....it happened to be the fastest 41 Apache for the longest time and still may be with a top speed then of like 104....later it ran 106 with Zul power!!!! FACT

The Chief had 950 Tommy Chief's in it and it ran right at 100 but didn't break 100 was like 98 with steps reverse chine and all the gizmo's on the bottom!!!! FACT ...whatever...the reverse chine theory may hold some water but the reverse chine on the Cigarette may be argued that it dumped my dumba$$ in the water not once but twice when it pivoted on the front step and high sided the boat!!!!

The facts are that Pete's boat ran over 100 and the Chief didn't!!! And don't even try to break my balls and say the extra 50 HP was the difference because that's BULL$HIT

sean stinson 03-01-2012 07:38 AM

At the end of the day both boats are very comparable in performance the difference will probably fall into the mid range comparisons!!!!!

sean stinson 03-01-2012 07:41 AM

BTW the 41 Pantera ran in the 90's with 525's and can't remember if it was #6's or NXT drives but I can find out!!!!

Actually I am sure Pepe is reading this thread so pipe up my Cubano Amigo!!!!!

(!) The article states that it will be equipped with a pair of 700SCi's. The last time I checked, a pair of 700/NXT's cost approx. $180,000.00, and that's before you even factor in the price of the rest of the boat!

I'm sure it will come into the market priced below some of the more established custom boat builders, but even then, I doubt that middle-class America has a fat enough wallet to be able to afford one!

I am not saying this first one with a high dollar paint job and 700's will be, but the boat itself may be a platform to replace the missing 42 Fountain w/525's or the likes. Not the "Common, common man" but something out there before you get to a 39 Unlimited.

Makes since when I say it

Alez Vite was a race boat and exactly my point. it was a 3 pack, not a full pleasure version Apache so I go back to my original post. 1000 hp a side 100 mph race boat vs. a 950 hp per side pleasure boat with a kitchen sink and s h i t t e r.

I said FULL PLEASURE APACHE wth cockpit, cabin/liner etc :poopoo::party-smiley-004:

Makes sense when I say it

I agree Matt. Maybe the 10 year plan just shortened up......:daz:

I think you're comparing apples to oranges.

One is an old technology, heavy, 20 year old boat.

The other is a modern lay-up, lighter boat with advantages of much improved propeller technology.

While Allez Vite has no cabin, I'll bet it's considerably heavier than the Chief.

And Allez Vite had old design, 4 blade props and wet sump 6 drives.

Didn't the Chief have improved 5 blade props and dry-sump drives?

Please don't take any of this as criticism of the new 42. I looks very cool/fun to me. I'd love to have one!

But I think the claim that the steps are worth 10 MPH is dubious.
